The Community Development Department is in search of a charismatic and energetic Recreation Coordinator to enhance our dynamic Parks, Culture, and Recreation Division. The hiring range for this position will be: $63,793.60 - $87,713.60, DOE.

Essential Job Functions
As the Recreation Coordinator, you will be central to our community's recreational life. Your responsibilities will include: Overseeing day-to-day operations at designated recreation facilities to ensure they are safe, engaging, and well-maintained. Designing and implementing a wide range of recreational programs, events, and athletic opportunities that appeal to all city residents. Engaging with the community to understand their needs and customizing programs to enhance their recreational experiences. Collaborating with other city departments and external partners to promote and expand our recreational offerings.
We are looking for candidates with a proven experience in recreation management, program development, or a similar role. Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to effectively manage teams. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, adept at building and fostering community relations. A self-starter with a deep passion for enhancing community life through creative and impactful recreational programming.
Minimum Required Qualifications
High School diploma or G.E.D. and 4 years of related experience in community service, event management, or recreational program administration; or any equivalent combination of educational or work experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Education, Parks and Recreation, Recreation Management or related field program. Candidates will be evaluated on a combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
Special Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Virginia driver’s license.
