As a Recovery Specialist, you will help individuals and families who are struggling with mental health and substance use issues. This role involves meeting with clients, understanding their needs and strengths, and connecting them with the right treatment and support services. You’ll work with community organizations, provide guidance and encouragement, and help clients overcome barriers to their recovery. Essentially, you will be a supportive guide, helping people navigate their recovery journey and regain control over their lives.

Responsibilities
- Client Engagement and Support: Meet with clients, introduce them to the program and enroll them. Offer pre-treatment engagement into recovery support services. Assist clients in overcoming barriers to recovery through continuous monitoring, consultation, and encouragement.
- Collaboration and Advocacy: Work with community partners to engage individuals in recommended treatment services, and advocate on behalf of clients to ensure access and responsiveness of services.
- Therapeutic Alliance: Engage clients in dialogue to understand their strengths, needs, and cultural context, fostering strong therapeutic relationships.
- Active Linkage and Recovery Promotion: Provide active linkage to recovery communities and services, develop natural supports, organize sobriety-based activities, and transport clients as needed.
- Documentation and Compliance: Complete all required documentation and data entry within specified timeframes, adhering to program and agency policies.
- Team Participation and Professional Development: Attend all assigned meetings and trainings, participate in program development activities, and work towards maintaining achieving or maintaining professional certifications.
- Confidentiality and Customer Service: Maintain confidentiality of all client information and promote Chestnut’s culture of customer service excellence.
- Provide Support: Implement interventions consistent with client-centered care, trauma-informed practices, and recovery-oriented practices while promoting hope, respect, empowerment, and health/wellness.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent, plus five years of demonstrated recovery experience or engagement in a recovery network, mental health, substance use, or other social service experience; OR
- Bachelor’s degree; OR
- A combination of five years of experience and college education; OR
- Certification as a Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS), Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS), Family Partnership Professional (CFPP), or Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CADC) in good standing with the applicable state.
- Valid driver’s license, private automobile insurance, and insurability.
- Basic computer skills, including videoconferencing, MS Word, email, and electronic medical records (EMR).
