Role and Team
The ADESA Vehicle Recon Manager will lead a the Detail and Body Shops. Reporting to the General Manager, they will ensure the reconditioning operation is aligned with specific ADESA initiatives and operations practices. The Vehicle Recon Manager will effectively balance and deliver service requests for all customers, ensuring that the daily inventory of labor hours across all vehicle service departments are consumed. They will identify and capitalize on revenue opportunities that create value for our customers and for our company.
Responsibilities
- Develops strong partnerships with the Corporate Office to implement and ensure compliance with all company initiatives, policies and procedures, and applicable state and federal laws – including issues resolution, formal input/requirements process for strategic decision making.
- Work closely with the General Manager and other Auction Management to ensure the best possible customer experience
- Act as the at-auction point person for all vehicle reconditioning needs
- May be required to assist in budgetary processes for all areas of responsibility. Ensure the department is properly staffed per auction workload at all times. Control and monitor payroll costs to maintain budget targets.
- Ensure accurate and timely reconciliation with weekly and monthly corporate financial reports. Initiate and follow up on any discrepancies.
- Manage controllable expenses and cost items affecting profitability of the production shops. Order supplies and forms.
- Monitor inventory levels and work with other Managers to ensure maximum turnover of inventory without loss of sales. Advise and assist with corrective procedures when needed. Initiate and complete accurate inventory transfers as instructed.
- Monitor and control all facility conditions, vehicles, property and equipment under the assigned production shops direction within corporate standards for cleanliness, proper maintenance and safety.
- Engages with customers and employees in a transparent, reliable, and positive manner
- Possess and demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of all administrative and operational processes to provide internal and external customer service
- Resolve all customer complaints and issues promptly and in a friendly, courteous manner and inform the General Manager or designee of all serious complaints or incidents.
- Respond to and follow corporate processes and procedures on employee or customer accidents, injuries, and loss or damage to any property. Report all incidents to the General Manager or designee immediately per corporate and auction policy.
- Ensure proper follow through on all directives, bulletins, and schedules from the General Manager, designee or corporate sources. Maintain a good flow of communication with all personnel.
- Responsible for the direction and oversight of the Vehicle Reconditioning Departments of the Auction including but not limited to operations, maintenance, safety/compliance, equipment and personnel.
- Ensure company driving safety standards and policies are known to all driver personnel. Ensure adherence to company substance abuse prevention and control procedures for department and activities.
- Responsible for managing assets and available business resources in such a way as to minimize operational expenses while maximizing equipment and personnel utilization and efficiency.
- Remain knowledgeable on current corporate policies, procedures and processes.
- Monitors the productivity, efficiency and training of employees within the department to achieve company best practices and initiatives.
- Responsible for ensuring the proper follow-through on all directives, bulletins, schedules and financial reports from the General Manager, designee or other corporate sources.
- Conduct department meetings at least on a weekly basis (or as necessary) to communicate company and department information and to build teamwork among the employees.
- Practice and promote teamwork at all times. Set a good example of attitude and performance. Develop and maintain a good flow of communication with all employees.
- Prepare and conduct performance appraisals for all personnel in accordance with corporate policy.
- Coordinate recruiting and hiring processes with Human Resources representative per corporate policy and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in an automotive body shop, mechanic shop, or detail shop required.
- 2+ years of people management/leadership experience
- Experience with writing vehicle estimates preferred
- CRM experience preferred
- Must be 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license
