A nursing home receptionist is responsible for greeting visitors, answering phones, managing inquiries about the facility, directing visitors to the appropriate staff or department, maintaining the reception area, and handling administrative tasks like resident paperwork, all while providing a warm and professional demeanor to residents and their families.
Key responsibilities of a nursing home receptionist:
- Welcoming all guests to the nursing home, verifying their identity, and directing them to the correct location.Handling incoming phone calls, taking messages, and directing calls to the appropriate staff members.
- Maintaining accurate resident information, including contact details, medical records, and insurance information.
- Coordinating resident appointments with healthcare providers, family visits, and other services.
- Processing paperwork for new residents, including intake forms, medical records, and insurance documents.
- Answering questions from family members regarding resident care, facility policies, and updates on their loved one's condition.
- Keeping the front desk and reception area clean, organized, and presentable.
- Assisting with emergency procedures as needed, including contacting staff in case of an incident.
- Copying, faxing, emailing, and managing incoming mail.
Required skills for a nursing home receptionist:
