Job Summary:
Reporting to the Practice Manager, the Receptionist is responsible for greeting/acknowledging all patients, scheduling appointments, answering phones, scanning, collecting of payments, dissemination of appropriate information, and all other duties assigned by the Practice Manager. The receptionist will ensure that all nurse practitioners, patients, visitors, guests, and co-workers receive personalized, prompt attention and are treated with receptiveness, dignity, and respect.
Job Responsibilities:
- Answer phones in a pleasant/responsive manner, check voicemail and in-basket messages frequently, direct all calls appropriately, and take clear messages and tasks to the appropriate nurse practitioner.
- Conduct check-in and check-out process.
- Confirm that patients have all appropriate documentation for their visit i.e. insurance card, referrals, authorizations, and completed initial questionnaires and paperwork.
- Verify insurance, contact patient for any insurance issues, and ensure appropriate PCP is assigned for managed care plans prior to appointment.
- Complete all front desk items on work queues.
- Encourage and assist patients in signing up for the portal.
- Assist with medical records requests.
- Scan and index paperwork (demographics, insurance cards, and outside medical records) into appropriate folders.
- Collect all patient payments at the time of service, including any outstanding balances.
- Prepare daily payment batches, logs, and credit card settlements.
- Assist with obtaining authorizations for medications and radiology tests
- Assist in generating insurance referrals to specialists.
- Maintain inventory of general office supplies.
- Attend staff meetings as requested.
- Attend trainings as requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
- High School graduate or GED equivalent required.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a healthcare environment.
- Experience with Electronic Health Record is a plus.
- Knowledge of medical office billing is a plus
- Bilingual English and Spanish required
- Possess knowledge of modern office equipment, systems, and procedures.
- Ability to work independently and takes initiative to improve overall office operations.
Hourly Rate Ranges: $20.91 - $34.62
Note: Our salary offers will fall within these ranges based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to experience, skill set, training and education.
