About the Job: Receiving, Stocking, and Customer Service Associate
The primary responsibility for all positions with Cole Hardware is to Amaze Every Customer Every Time. The receiver is responsible for all functions and paperwork relating to receiving. This position operates pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other equipment safely and correctly. The receiving associate must maximize sales potential through effective and proper procedures for receiving all products entering the store, including verifying actual products against packing slips and confirming product integrity as needed. The receiving associate must initial and code invoices, log invoices, and distribute them to appropriate departments. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate receiving records, organization, and cleanliness of receiving area and trash areas.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Receives all products for the store, inspecting for shortages, overages, damage, and quality using a handheld device or inventory computer system
- Examines contents and compares them with records, invoices, or orders to verify the accuracy of the shipment.
- Reports any discrepancies to the supervisor to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, or nonconformance to specifications.
- Keeps careful invoice files and records and follows established procedures
- Works closely with the buying or store management to make arrangements or to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials.
- Follows merchandise pricing and tagging procedures
- Maintains courteous relationships with drivers and vendors.
- Follows and complies with all applicable health and sanitation procedures and adheres to safe work practices.
- Operates all equipment safely and correctly.
- Assist on the sales floor as needed
- Assist with stocking the retail sales floors
- Assist with store services: key copy, assembly, woodcuts, glass cut, and others.
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities
High school diploma or equivalent and 1-2 years prior receiving experience; or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
Ability to work independently yet have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with other team members and Store leadership.
Ability to understand proper retail receiving.
Ability to perform simple math operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
Must be computer literate.
Ability to operate hand truck, pallet jack, and other equipment.
Able to move and handle boxes/totes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the store entails walking, standing, bending, and performing all functions as set forth.
Able to stand for long periods & ability to lift to 50 lbs
Wage Range: $19.00 - $20.00/hour
