JOB DESCRIPTION – Receiving Quality Inspector
Employee Classification: Hourly/Non-Exempt/Full-Time/Regular
Area: Quality Control
Reports to: Quality Manager
Goal of this Position
To ensure that vendor-supplied parts, assemblies, and other fabricated items and materials meet or exceed Variosystems requirements as well as our Customer’s specifications. Work within the parameters of the QM System while pursuing general and company-specific commercial goals.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Inspects incoming product-related items for defects and adherence to specifications
- Inspects fabricated parts, such as, sheet metal panels, plastic housings, cables and harnesses per engineering drawings and other specifications
- Operates dimensional measuring equipment to determine compliance to specification
- Perform lead tests using the X-ray fluorescence System (XRF) or Lead-free swabs, as applicable
- Record inspection results in SAP (e.g. Q2 Quality Notifications)
- Labels and logs defective items
- Segregates and quarantines defective items
- Follows procedure for handling material
- Solves problems and suggests improvements to the Quality Manager
- Maintains material traceability as required
- Inspects items for counterfeit conditions
- Complete Receiving First Article Inspection Reports
- Follow Quality inspection Plans
- Perform inspections using AQL Sampling Plans
- Other Quality duties, as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of IPC Standards relating to the acceptability of parts, PCBs, Wires and Cable
- Certified as CIS to IPC-A-610 or passes certification to IPC-A-610 as a CIS within two weeks of beginning position as Receiving Quality Inspector
- Knowledge of JEDEC J-STD-033 for Moisture Sensitive Parts handling
- Ability to use digital calipers, micrometers, microscope/magnifier, pin gages, gage blocks and other precision measuring tools
- Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel and Word applications
- Knowledge of SAP
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to communicate efficiently in English, both written and verbal
- Able to lift 40 pound boxes/packages
- Able to stand and walk for the 8 hour shift
Salary
17 - 17 /hour
