Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
Performs hands on visual and dimensional inspection of incoming parts and materials, assessing compliance with standards, specifications and control drawings. Reads and complies with instructions and safety information as necessary for proper and safe completion of assigned work.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Performs inspection of incoming aircraft parts, materials, components and engines in accordance with applicable standards, specifications, and control drawings.
- Performs both visual and dimensional inspections properly and accurately.
- Uses micrometers, calipers, and other measuring instruments and test equipment in the performance of receiving inspection work.
- Enters data into the computer system in a timely manner.
- Identifies and separates non-compliant items for return.
- Files and retrieves parts certifications in a timely manner.
- Prepares necessary records such as inspection documentation, logs, rejection reports or other records thoroughly, legibly, and in a timely manner.
- Interprets technical data, certificates, and 8130-3.
- Researches and retrieves technical data as necessary.
- Maintains an updated, current knowledge of technical information and inspection techniques and requirements to include FAA regulations, Comlux Repair Station Manual and other such policies and procedures.
- Reads instructions and safety information, follows safety procedures, and wears and utilizes appropriate safety equipment for the work being performed.
- Interfaces with Purchasing to resolve certification issues.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES, ETC:
- High School Diploma/GED. Two year certificate or Associates Degree in aviation maintenance, avionics electrical or equivalent education and military or commercial airline experience.
- Valid A&P license strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of quality systems.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge of inspection and measurement techniques.
- Blueprint reading and understanding a plus.
- Must be skilled in the use of measuring instruments, tools, and equipment.
- Strong communication and problem solving skills.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment described here is representative of those required by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodations.
The office building where this position works is a typical office environment with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues in the immediate vicinity of the work station. The employee in this position will experience occasional outdoor exposure to heat, cold, and environmental elements when called upon to locate personnel working inside or outside of a Hangar.
