About the Job
The Chicago Real Estate Group is seeking mid-level and senior associates (Class of 2019-2017) to work on a broad range of sophisticated commercial real estate transactions including acquisitions, dispositions, financings, joint ventures, fund formation, and leasing.
We advise U.S. and international clients in connection with all types of complex transactions in every space in the real estate industry. Working with Skadden’s global network of 50-plus practices, the Skadden Real Estate Group advises on transactions around the world involving the purchase, sale, co-investment, construcÂtion, financing, development, leasing, management, operation, and other investment in real property across the full spectrum of asset classes including office, multifamily, single-family, industrial, logistics, hospitality, data centers, retail, lodging, and gaming projects.
Role Overview of Real Estate Associate Position
- Manage and oversee real estate transactions from inception to closure, ensuring compliance with all applicable legal standards.
- Negotiate and draft critical documents including purchase agreements, lease agreements, and financing documents.
- Conduct due diligence, including title review, survey review, and reviewing zoning laws.
- Work closely with clients to provide strategic advice and tailored legal solutions related to real estate investments and developments.
- Coordinate with various stakeholders, including developers, government agencies, and other legal professionals, to streamline transaction processes.
- Maintain up-to-date records and ensure confidentiality and integrity of client information.
Qualifications for Real Estate Associate
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law in the relevant state.
- A minimum of 4-7 years of experience in real estate law, with a focus on commercial property transactions preferred.
- Strong negotiation, drafting, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and meet tight deadlines effectively.
- Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills in assessing transaction risks and outcomes.
Preferred Skills and Experience in Real Estate
- Experience with real estate finance and secured transactions.
- Proficiency in real estate management software and technologies.
- Strong understanding of local real estate market trends and regulations.
