We keep growing. With offices in LA County, CA, and Orange County, CA we are looking for an experienced Associate General Counsel to join us at our new Encino office. This is 4 days in the office and remotely on Friday!
Our private lending platform serves real estate developers nationwide - i.e., Residential Real Estate Development: acquisition, renovation, and construction. We create excellent custom, innovative lending solutions for a variety of real estate development business strategies.
The Role.

Job Details
Our Next Associate General Counsel Will...
- Have a strong background in mortgage lending law and regulations.
- Be able to provide sound legal advice and support to various business units within the organization.
- Be responsible for assisting with a wide range of legal matters related to mortgage lending operations.
- Provide support/legal guidance to internal stakeholders on all aspects of mortgage lending activities, i.e., origination, servicing, compliance, and regulatory matters.
- Review, draft, and negotiate a variety of contracts and agreements, i.e., loan documentation, vendor contracts, and third-party service agreements.
- Stay up-to-date with federal and state laws and regulations governing mortgage lending
- Ensure compliance with all applicable requirements.
- Conduct legal research and analysis on complex issues with mortgage lending.
- Provide recommendations and solutions to mitigate legal risks.
- Assist in the development/implementation of policies & procedures to ensure legal & regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with all teams, including risk management, compliance, operations, and finance, to address legal issues
- Manage and oversee outside counsel and legal vendors as needed.
Required Skills, Education, and Knowledge
- California bar license
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
- Seven (7)+ years of relevant experience practicing law, with a focus on mortgage lending or financial services.
- Proficient at understanding federal and state laws and regulations governing mortgage lending, including RESPA, TILA, TRID, and FCRA.
- Proficient with secondary market transactions and securitization
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills
- Effectively communicate complex legal concepts to stakeholders.
- Must be able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
- Strong analytical/problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders.
- Experience with regulatory compliance management systems.
