Position Information: Northwestern Health Sciences (NWHSU) is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic massage therapist to lead and oversee the Massage Therapy program. The Program Chair reports to the Dean of College of Health and Wellness and provides leadership and management to the program to ensure continued success and growth. This role will involve program assessment, accreditation compliance, faculty recruitment, strategic planning, and teaching. We are seeking a self-motivated individual who embraces the ever-changing landscape of education, can provide course deliver through both in-person and virtual platforms, enjoys working with a team of committed individuals, and who is student-centered in their approach to education.
We anticipate the time allocation of this position to be 60% teaching, 40% administrative.
This is a year-round, faculty position where academic rank and compensation will be determined by qualifications and experience.
Work Location: Bloomington, MN with flexibility to work up to 3 days per week remotely; must live local and be able to come to campus as needed.
Duties:
- Developing and implementing annual program goals and work plans aligned with the University Strategic Plan.
- Monitoring and enhancing student learning assessments and taking corrective actions to support continuous improvement.
- Monitor course registrations and make appropriate adjustments in course schedules and instructor assignments in cooperation with the Registrar and Dean's Office. Submit program course schedules to Registrar.
- Oversee Curriculum Assessment and processes designed to improve Student Learning and ensure program courses are correctly mapped to Program Learning Outcomes.
- Oversee accreditation process through continuous programmatic review and analysis to ensure alignment with COMTA accreditation requirements.
- Conducting periodic program evaluations/reviews.
- Partner with university departments to identify and execute innovative outreach strategies to attract excellent candidates to the program.
- Manage faculty recruitment, performance reviews, and professional development.
- Monitors program budget and ensures overall satisfactory financial performance of the program.
- Represent the Massage Therapy program at various admissions events.
- Teach an average of 7 Faculty Load Credits per term
What you need to have?
- Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred in the field of massage therapy with a preference for educational leadership and administrative experience and/or education
- BCTMB certification, required
- 5+ years experience as a massage therapist, required
- 3-5 years management experience, preferred
- Teaching and administration experience, preferred
- Experience leading and managing faculty in a higher education setting, preferred
- Experience in healthcare education settings, preferred
- Candidates should have experience interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems
