Title: RandD Portfolio Manager
Location: San Diego, CA
Duration: 9 Months
Remote Workplace: Your location will be a home office; you are not required to live within commuting distance of your assigned Client site (typically 75 miles/120km). If you reside within commuting distance of a Client site (typically 75 miles/120km) a hybrid working environment may be available.

A successful Sr Staff Technical Program Manager is a cross-functional leader recognized by peers and functional leadership as a strong leader of team members from different functional backgrounds and reporting relationships. They lead teams by expertly managing communication, fostering cross-functional collaboration, providing and maintaining motivation to team members and driving decisions. A highly effective Sr Staff Technical Program Manager will also possess proven ability to lead a robust new request intake process, prioritization, demand planning, with sufficient financial acumen and political awareness to provide tradeoff recommendations and drive alignment. The Sr. Staff Technical Program Manager also has experience driving engineering development projects from feasibility to commercialization that are applicable to the wearable medical device space.
Where you come in:
Client is searching for an RandD Portfolio manager to drive portfolio process development in the Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) space. You will be regarded by your peers and management as a motivating and engaging member of the RandD Portfolio Team.
You will manage new request intake, synthesize into actions required and initiate projects/tasks
You will organize the overall efforts from the organization into a portfolio framework with dashboards focusing on Stage 1 development
You will provide regular updates on progress to commitments to RandD and potentially outside organizations
You will provide a regular update cadence to assess progress to goals and gap closure plans
As required, you will manage key projects/programs that are systems/solutions led
As required, you will be the systems/solutions core team representative (Systems PO)
Mentor team members on project management fundamentals, tools and competencies
Assist in driving a successful systems and solutions organization by participating/leading in staff meetings and ensuring alignment of priority, effort and commitment across the team.

Ability to convey technical and business information clearly and effectively through documents, reports, and presentations both formally and informal.
Expertise with either stage-gate based product development frameworks and/or software development agile frameworks (medical device a strong plus).
Experience managing stakeholders inclusive of all technical and leadership levels: working effectively to drive critical program decisions and resolve competing stakeholder interests.
Experience working in the Medical Device industry as well as knowledge of the industry practices, techniques, and standards including ability to both understand and work effectively within a Quality System that is compliant with FDA regulations related to Design Control.
Excellent problem-solving ability across people, process, project, portfolio
Solid experience with resource analysis and best deployment plan of resources to meet overall portfolio goals

Experience and Education Requirements:
8 years of job-related experience with an Engineering Bachelor's degree
8 years of experience providing work direction and some leadership of people and teams
Technical expertise across disciplines and a passion for integrating components into a system.
Experience with both stage-gate based product development frameworks and software development principles including agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, Lean, SAFe, etc.).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Smartsheet/Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel, and Visio.
Experience with Planview Portfolios or similar a strong plus
