ARE is a fast-growing engineering and technology company that provides engineering to the transportation, energy, and environmental sectors. We are looking for a team player to join our Railroad Bridge Inspection team that will help us service Class I, Shortline, and Transit clients.
This position can be remotely located, or report to Overland Park, KS. It will report to ARE’s Director Bridge Inspection. The position will be full-time, with an expectation of at least 50% field time (often travel).
Responsibilities:- Plan and coordinate bridge inspections with local railroad contacts based on schedule and workload.
- Conduct bridge inspections in compliance with FRA regulations and as described in the AREMA bridge inspection manual.
- Manage expenses and budgets for inspection projects.
- Make decisions in the field based on sound judgement and experience regarding bridge conditions.
General:
- Strong organization and communication skills, a positive attitude.
- Training in Railroad Bridge Inspection
- Basic understanding of 49 CFR Part 237
- Comfortable working outdoors as well as at a computer.
- The ability to work independently with minimal direction and oversight, excellent time management skills, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred:
- 5+ years of experience in the Railroad industry
- Competency in the use of web-based applications.
- Excellent skills with MS Office applications, particularly Excel.
