Function: Supply Chain Job Summary: The Rail Operations Specialist is responsible for supporting the CF Rail Department as it relates to the rail fleet and associated transportation services, in support of CF’s operations which move over 5 million tons of product by rail across North America every year. This position will work in a team environment to investigate and resolve rail shipping issues, respond to internal and external requests for information, and assist with the maintenance and compliance of the CF rail fleet. Job Description: Job Description Assist Sales and Supply Chain with car tracing inquiries. Monitor daily the jeopardized shipments, exceptions, no bills, destination differences, empty/load conflicts, and off route data Oversee and execute all diversion requests. Work with the railroad to request diversions, communicate associated costs to Sales, and maintain a record of all diversions and rebills in Salesforce Investigate, resolve, and advise on active embargoes. Work with issuing railroad to request and acquire permits for embargo impacted shipments Assist Pricing Product Administration to maintain accuracy of ship-to and care-of rail served destinations via Rail Inc. Process internal rail data change requests to correct rail shipment data or cancelled shipments from the plant or railroad Track transit time for CF’s highest volume lanes to ensure cars turn efficiently and that delays are addressed promptly with the railroad. Create process training documentation and update as needed for both fleet and transportation teams Track car service over the course of each week to ensure each site is efficiently served to prevent delays and build-ups in the yard. Rail Fleet Work with Sales, customers, and car owners when railcar unloading issues arise and schedule mobile repair (MRU) to repair railcars in the field to facilitate the safe unloading of railcars or arrange shopping as necessary for assigned fleets Sets up railcar issue logs with the railroads for assigned fleets when railcars are delayed, lost, or bad ordered while also diverting empty railcars to reposition them and ensure each location has ample car supply for loading Maintain mechanical records and compliance due dates for assigned commodity fleets. Rail Accounting Process audit freight bills exceptions and switch charges in Cass from the railroad while maintaining rate and fuel surcharge files in Cass ShareFile to ensure minimal rate exceptions. Audit and assign cost centers to transportation and fleet invoices Create blanket POs in Avantis for lease costs, car repairs, MRU repairs, storage, and other items as required Work with Accounts Payable to add new rail related vendors as needed Successful incumbents will have: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or Economics Strong verbal, written, and communication skills with the ability to interface and communicate with several different departments and locations within CF as well as external vendors Strong problem resolution and analytical skills. Must be able to exercise independent judgment within established guidelines Familiar with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) Ability to learn and navigate computer systems, Salesforce, and proprietary CF software Familiarity with fertilizer/chemical industry, supply chain, or logistics is an asset The estimated base pay for the position is typically between $66,300 – $87,500. The actual base pay for the position may be influenced by factors such as education, training, skills, qualifications, competencies, years of experience, job-related knowledge, and scope of the role, and could be outside of the posted pay range.
