About the Job
Radiology Technician is responsible for performing general x-ray in addition to assists the physician9s) during fluoroscopy procedures and practices sterile technique and prevents cross-contamination when necessary. Performs various types of radiographs from all areas within the physician office setting.
Responsibilities:
- Follow instructions from Physicians regarding which area of the patient’s body needs imaging.
- Talk the patient through the procedure and answer questions to lower their anxiety.
- Gain patient cooperation by reducing anxieties; providing explanations of treatment; answering questions.
- Prepare patient for radiological procedure by positioning patient; adjusting immobilization devices; moving equipment into specified position; adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.
- Prevent unnecessary radiation exposure both to themselves and to the patient.
- Follow correct techniques and procedures such as patient shielding
- Maintain radiology supplies inventory by checking stock, anticipating future needs and placing orders.
- Ensuring operation of radiology equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Comply with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
- Maintaining production and quality of radiographs by following established standards and procedures; developing radiographs; observing radiographic results; making necessary adjustments.
- Documenting patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
- Contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Contributes to and consistently applies Catholic Health policies, procedures, and benefits to all customers and/or employees without discrimination.
- Minimizing radiation to patient and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors.
- Protecting patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols; following drug protocols in case of reactions to drugs, such as contrast media, administering first aid, and using the emergency cart.
- Maintaining safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Employee conducts himself/herself in conformity with the HIPAA Compliance Program and applicable institutional policies and procedures for patient privacy. In addition, employee conducts himself/herself in conformity with the Catholic Health Security policies and procedures.

Position Requirements and Qualifications
Education:
- Radiologic applicants must be graduates from an AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology.
- ARRT cert is required as well as current NY State license as a Registered Radiological Technologist or Registry eligible.
- Current BLS for healthcare provider CPR or CRP/AED certification.
Experience:
- At least one year of Radiologic Technologist preferred.
The range for this position is $34.36- $38.44 per hour.
This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience and position location. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
