This is an outpatient clinic, Monday through Friday, day shifts available, very flexible!
Performs all routine radiographic examinations to young adult-geriatric patients in a manner ensuring that studies produced are of appropriate technical quality; are produced in a timely manner consistent with departmental goals and objectives; are produced in a manner ensuring the minimum possible radiation exposure to the patient; and are produced in a manner ensuring the delivery of appropriate general patient care.
Job Description:
1. Performs patient care functions. Verifies patient’s I.D. Shares in the responsibility in greeting the patient upon arrival in the department and is responsible for the patient until discharge. Assesses patient’s physical condition and ability to actively participate in movement during the exam. Assesses patient’s general mental awareness and accordingly modifies approach to care delivered and exam performed. Verifies demographic and clinical information on the requisition and presence of written order in patient chart. Obtains additional history as needed. Determines sequence of multiple exams. Exercises confidentiality with respect to patient information.
2. Performs requested/required exams in a time frame consistent with departmental standards and in a manner consistent with quality standards of the department. Consistently and accurately positions patients for each radiographic projection listed for the routine exams contained in the Departmental protocol manual.
3. Consistently and accurately maneuvers each piece of equipment used for each of the routine exams contained in the manual.
4. Consistently and accurately determines the set of exposure factors required to produce a diagnostic image for each of the routine exams contained in the manual and accurately adjusts controls to deliver an appropriate exposure.
5. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of human anatomical structure, physiological function and pathology.
6. Consistently practices proper aseptic or sterile technique during appropriate exams. Consistently performs imaging duties within a time frame appropriate for exams performed and patient conditions.
7. Monitors radiations delivery. Utilizes shielding devices and procedures. Reviews own personal radiation exposure monitoring reports. Monitors individual radiation exposure to meet parameters.
8. Performs various non-imaging functions. Shares responsibility for transporting patients to and from Radiology, responsible for clerical personnel in the department when necessary, and exercises initiative in assisting other sections of the department.
Associate Degree: Radiologic Technology Required
AART Required
Radilogic Technology License Required
