ROLE PROFILE: ESG Business Partner (maternity cover)
REPORTS TO: Group EHS&S Director
A critical member of the Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability team, the ESG Business Partner is responsible for assisting with creating, integrating, and managing Morgan’s Sustainability and ESG programs across the business.
This position works to drive improving metrics across sustainability and ESG measures to support Morgan’s 2030 strategy. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to be self-directed and manage multiple priorities in a time-sensitive environment, and excellent analytical skills. Integrity, discretion and respect for confidential information are absolutely essential.
Responsibilities
OVERVIEW & SCOPE OF ROLE:
The role is designed to provide broad-based support for the various projects and initiatives of the Group Director of EHS&S and the wider business. This involves a range of analytical and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and stewardship-related tasks. The role includes administering Morgan’s responses to both mandatory and voluntary reporting, ensuring appropriate and robust data collection, and supporting the deployment of sustainability strategy across the business. The role will provide support to the Group Director of EHS&S in developing and implementing ESG policies, principles and methodologies, as well as in performing ESG research, stewardship research and peer analyses, with the aim to enhance and support Morgan’s 2030 ESG strategy and aspirations. The role will require collaboration across all business unit functions in relation to our sustainability profile and internal policy initiatives.
Compliance
- Ensure that group environmental data capture, quality and reporting meets regulations. Coordinate additional regulatory schemes at a group level (eg ESOS)
- Support the business where appropriate with training and development to enable appropriate data capture and reporting in response to changes in legislation.
- Work with appropriate internal and external resources to build data capture systems and processes which are aligned with future reporting requirements (eg Scope 3)
- Support internal data audits, train others in how to review environmental data. Support with 3rd party data assurance.
Data Systems
- Track & report on the progress of the group and across our business units against our ESG objectives and targets.
- Support the delivery of reporting roadmaps to ensure Morgan stays aligned with both regulatory and voluntary ESG reporting standards
- Work with collaboratively with system managers to develop data collection systems that optimise the efficiency of data mining to implement reporting improvements.
- Ensure the integrity and quality control of Morgan Advanced Materials ESG data
- Conduct internal audits of site environmental data
- Serve as an expert resource to support and inform decisions around global sustainability data collection and system design.
Annual Report
- Support the compilation of the Taskforce on Climate related Financial Disclosure for Morgan
- Work with stakeholders to get climate risk embedded into the group and GBU risk process. Support the the completion of materiality assessments.
- Provide appropriate training, climate scenarios and tools to allow climate risks to be assessed
- Support improvement in processes and reporting to improve compliance with TCFD and other climate risk reporting requirements
- Assist with the various activities to get the business ready for CSRD reporting, based on 2025 performance.
- Own the environment metrics and ensure they are accurately & compliantly reported in our annual report
- Ensure appropriate 3rd part audit of the data and report, ahead of publication.
Other External Reporting
- Maintain the group calendar of key actions for all compliance and non-compliance reporting activities.
- Assist with gathering data for response to third-party ESG initiatives like GRI, UNGC, CDP, DJSI, ISS, Ecovadis and others as identified as important for program success.
- Assist colleagues as required to complete shareholder / customer ESG information requests.
- Develop content for half year updates and the annual report as required
Internal Reporting
- Ensure robust methodology around core ESG metrics, with defined sources for data, building competence in reporting at a site level.
- Manage thinkGREEN intranet content and maintenance for ESG/Sustainability to ensure content is current, relevant and able to be leveraged to various audiences
- Develop and deploy training and development of ESG related topics.
- Develop and deploy content for regular updates to internal and external stakeholders.
Sustainability Strategy
- Track core environmental metrics. Identify trends and communicate reasons for improvements/deviations. Provide insight for stakeholders on the drivers behind our environmental performance
- Support the furnace working group to act as a focal point for process improvement.
- Support ESG program and project-based efforts on an as needed basis (e.g. short-term initiatives and one-time projects).
- Assist in accelerating achievement of key ESG Strategy including renewable energy sourcing and CO2e emissions reduction objectives and projects.
- Assist the business with the completion of a Double Materiality Assessment (DMA) in readiness for 2026 reporting for French LE on 2025 performance
- Complete industry and peer benchmarking as required.
Qualifications
Your Background:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Experience with reporting standards and frameworks such as CDP, GRI, SASB, TCFD, SBTi and UNGC.
- Familiar with ESG assessments and ratings such as CDP, Ecovadis, MSCI, ISS, Sustainalytics, etc.
- Previous experience in coordinating multiple projects
- Strong skills in compiling and analyzing data from multiple sources.
- Experience managing relationships with a variety of stakeholders
- Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel and other business technologies.
Desirable
- Project management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities at once.
- Knowledge in global standards related to socially responsible ESG reporting including but not limited to UN Sustainable Development Goals, Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures, Sustainability Accounting Standards Board, and the Global Reporting Initiative.
- Expertise/experience in completion of DMAs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, collaboration and influencing skills
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable, moving and managing projects with differing objectives, milestones and deliverables.
- Ability to problem-solve and synthesize complex data/research into digestible, actionable outputs.
