Requirements:
- Certification as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or equivalent certification.
- State licensure to practice as an Ultrasound Technician (if applicable).
- Minimum of one year of experience in performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations.
- Proficiency in operating ultrasound equipment and understanding of imaging techniques.
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology relevant to ultrasound imaging.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team.
- Strong communication skills to interact with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Commitment to continuing education and staying current with advances in ultrasound technology and practices.
- Knowledge of radiation safety protocols and procedures, even though ultrasound does not use ionizing radiation.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations using specialized equipment to produce high-quality images of the body’s internal structures.
- Prepare and position patients for ultrasound procedures to ensure optimal imaging results.
- Conduct ultrasound exams in various areas, including abdominal, obstetric, gynecologic, vascular, and small parts imaging.
- Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, ensuring it is functioning correctly and safely.
- Record and maintain patient information and procedure details in medical records.
- Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to interpret ultrasound results and discuss findings.
- Ensure patient safety and comfort during procedures, following established protocols and guidelines.
- Perform routine quality control tests on ultrasound equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Provide patient education about ultrasound procedures and address any questions or concerns.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations related to ultrasound technology.
