Job Summary

As a Radiation Therapist, you will play a vital role in the treatment of cancer patients. You will work closely with radiation oncologists and other healthcare professionals to deliver precise radiation treatments, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the process. Responsibilities:

• Treatment Delivery:
  • Administer radiation therapy treatments to patients according to prescribed treatment plans.
  • Operate linear accelerators and other radiation therapy equipment to deliver accurate radiation doses.
  • Monitor patients during treatment for any signs of discomfort or adverse reactions.
  • Maintain accurate records of treatment delivery and patient response.
• Patient Care and Education:
  • Explain procedures to patients, answering their questions and addressing their concerns with empathy and compassion.
  • Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients throughout their treatment journey.
  • Educate patients about potential side effects and self-care strategies.
• Simulation and Treatment Planning:
  • Assist in the simulation process, using imaging techniques to accurately position patients for treatment.
  • Collaborate with dosimetrists and physicists to develop and verify treatment plans.
• Quality Assurance:
  • Participate in quality assurance activities to ensure the accuracy and safety of radiation therapy treatments.
  • Perform daily quality checks on equipment and treatment plans.
• Radiation Safety:
  • Adhere to radiation safety protocols to minimize exposure to patients and staff.
  • Properly handle and dispose of radioactive materials.
• Professional Development:
  • Stay abreast of current research, best practices, and advancements in radiation therapy.
  • Participate in continuing education courses and professional development activities to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

• Education and Certification:
  • Satisfactorily completed formal therapeutic radiologic technology training at an approved school.
  • National Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required.
  • California Diagnostic and Therapeutic Radiologic Technology Certification or California Therapeutic Radiologic Technology Certification required.
• Preferred Qualifications:
  • Specialized training in dosimetric techniques and physics of treatment planning.
