Key Responsibilities:
- Safely and accurately operate radiation therapy equipment to deliver prescribed treatments.
- Perform high-quality radiation therapy procedures in accordance with physician instructions and treatment protocols.
- Conduct pretreatment preparations, including simulations and the fabrication of treatment devices.
- Perform daily QA (Quality Assurance) on linear accelerators and CT simulators.
- Utilize hospital and Radiation Oncology EMR systems for recording patient treatments, documenting positioning information, and managing care coordination.
- Educate and support patients to ensure a positive and compassionate experience.
- Collaborate with the Radiation Oncologist and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.
- Participate in on-call procedures as needed.
- Maintain a calm and professional demeanor, even in stressful situations, and resolve issues appropriately.
Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate of an approved program in Radiation Therapy.
- Certification: ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification required.
- Licensure: Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of New Mexico.
- CPR Certification: Current certification required.
- Experience: 3-5 years preferred; minimum of 1 year in radiation therapy is required.
- Knowledge of the operation, methods, and safety standards for ionizing radiation equipment.
- Ability to handle radiation sources safely and competently.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in patient education and care coordination.
- Aptitude for operating advanced radiation therapy technology.
- Team player with strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
