The Oncology Service in Richmond, VA is Searching for a Licensed Veterinary Technician to Join Our Team!
The Oncology Service (TOS) is a multi-facility small animal oncology practice. At TOS, we strive to provide “The Future of Veterinary Cancer Care” to our clients and patients. The Oncology Service - Richmond Offers Both Medical Oncology and Radiation Oncology Care. We Are Seeking Highly Skilled and Dedicated Individuals to Join Our Hospital!
The Oncology Service - Richmond is seeking a proficient Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our radiation oncology team. Our ideal candidate possesses compassion, creativity, strong communication skills, is extremely detail-oriented, and uses their initiative and work ethic to complement our team.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting with the efficiency of the oncologist by anticipating the doctor’s needs and providing exceptional and compassionate patient care.
- Acquiring accurate patient histories, recordkeeping and invoicing, and client communication and education as directed by the veterinarian.
- Flawless IV catheter placement for anesthetic use.
- Administration of induction agents as well as monitoring and recovery of general anesthesia/sedation for radiation treatment patients and CT scan patients.
- Low-stress handling techniques and restraint of patients during physical exams and diagnostic sample collection, proficient venipuncture. Advanced understanding of patient positioning for CT scans and radiation treatments a plus.
- Obtaining radiographs.
- Utilizing Idexx in-house laboratory equipment
Qualifications and Skills
- Licensed Veterinary Technicians only - Virginia licensure required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a licensed veterinary technician required
- Radiation therapists are encouraged to apply
- Fear Free Certification preferred, but not required
Compensation:
The salary range for this position is $26-$29/hr. Salary commensurate with experience level.
