PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The incumbent will assist engineers in the testing and reliability of NxStage’s products. They will also be prototyping new products, creating test fixtures, and creating manufacturing aids, utilizing the Machine Shop as needed. This may include the basic repair and handling of NxStage products along with troubleshooting, testing maintenance, and evaluation of product performance.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor and understand ongoing reliability testing on various NxStage products, record data and summarize results
- Participate in continuous improvement activities including fixture development and process improvement
- Perform general lab maintenance on equipment verification, chemical inventory, equipment calibration tracking, overall lab organization, ongoing test maintenance,
- Understand general water systems/flow paths for limited supervised maintenance and troubleshooting
- Comply with formalized test protocols and SOPs under a quality-controlled environment
- Assist in maintenance of the Machine Shop and use a variety of hand and power tools
- Build and assemble needed fixtures and subassemblies for testing requirements

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear, stand, walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms. The noise level is usually moderate.
- Required to wear personal protective equipment that may include safety glasses, smock, steel-toed shoes, etc.
- Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.
- Occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
- The employee may be required to work with potentially hazardous materials and solutions.
EDUCATION:
- Associates Degree or technical degree is preferred
EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:
- 2+ years experience
- Exceptional troubleshooting ability
- Good organizational and follow-up skills
- Overall positive and optimistic attitude
- Work productively and effectively with limited supervision
- Familiar with Microsoft Office.
- Experience with SolidWorks CAD is a plus.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and work in areas not necessarily optimized for service activity
- Ability to read basic schematics, plumbing and pneumatic diagrams is preferred
- Ability to perform minor electrical rework (cable making, component replacement)
