R&D Lab Technician/ Discovery Operations

Job Description
DOT (Discovery Operations Team) has an opening for an R&D Lab Technician position in the Sample Management area. This position will provide opportunities to learn how to work in a research laboratory and use multiple programs associated with compound and biologics inventory management. This position will be responsible for a short-term project for
1. reconciling and re-formatting compounds acquired from a collaboration partner for transfer to a sister site, and
2. auditing and uploading proprietary company cell line inventory into a freezer management software database and physically transferring them into a cryostorage unit.
Key Responsibilities Include:
• Register and return known compounds to the company chemical repository
• Maintain a high level of productivity in the laboratory setting
• Demonstrate a high degree of responsibility in maintaining scientific standards and safe laboratory practices.
• Keep accurate and current records of research and/or project related activities according to company policies.
Qualifications
Basic:
• AS or BS in biology or closely related field with 0+ years (AS) or (BS) preferred; will consider those still in school with biology/chemistry lab course experience
• Hands-on experience with organic compounds and/or cell lines in a laboratory
• Ability to accurately transfer and weigh out compounds in a laboratory setting using pipets, balances, etc.
• Ability to operate a variety of software platforms
• Proven effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact with scientists
Preferred:
• Experience in data entry and barcoding
• Experience with working with a variety of different computer programs, such as Microsoft Office, and LIMS-type databases
