R&D Research Associate II - Meridian Bioscience, Inc.

Primary role is to run experiments, acquire and record data, analyze data and draw conclusions.

Tasks/Duties/Responsibilities:

• Support projects by conducting experiments, acquiring, analyzing, and accurately documenting data.
• Draw conclusions from experiments and participate in team discussions.
• Actively participate in brainstorm discussions.
• Contribute to completion of milestones associated with specific projects.
• Other duties as assigned.

Other Duties/Physical Requirements:

• Must have the ability to lift 20 pounds of supplies or finished product throughout the workday.
• Must be able to concentrate, analyze and solve complex issues throughout the course of the workday.
• Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (gloves, face shields/safety glasses, latex, or nitrile gloves, etc.).
• Will be required to be fully gowned for performing tasks in a clean room environment
• Must be able to adhere to applicable bio-safety practices when on the manufacturing floor or in laboratories.
• Ability to stand, stoop, reach, push and pull throughout the course of the work shift.
• Experiments may involve materials that are considered potentially biohazardous.  Must be able to work with human substances such as blood.

Minimum Education or Equivalent Experience Required/Preferred:

• Bachelor of Science degree required. A minimum of 2 years of practical experience required.

Competencies Required or preferred:

• Fundamental knowledge of biology and chemistry.
• Basic knowledge of laboratory skills such as buffer preparation and pipetting.
• Ability to handle clinical samples.
• Ability to work in a Biosafety Level 2 lab.
• Basic computer skills such as the working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to run planned experiments under supervision.
• Ability to discuss results from experimental data using sound scientific judgement to determine technical decisions with supervisor.
• Ability to document experimental results to GLP/GMP standards.
• Ability to use advanced theoretical knowledge to solve experimental problems.
• Basic data management skills using statistical software such as MiniTab.
• Basic knowledge of immunoassays development.
• Basic presentation skills.

Required Travel %:

• 0-10% Travel anticipated
