About the Job

Research and Development (R&D) Lab Technician will set up and perform manual, automated, materials and environmental performance testing on the full line of the client product lines based on applicable standards while following strict timelines. Performance of these tests must be precise, with the monitoring of test controls, effective documentation, and communication of the results both verbally and with formal test reports. This position will be expected to document equipment information, create work instructions to be used by the test technicians, and create calibration schedule if needed. Some support will be required to conduct performance testing, lab organization, and disposal of testing samples.
Required Education:
• Associate or Bachelor degree in a STEM major
Technical Experience Requirements:
• Experience in operating FTIR and DSC Calorimeters
• Ability to interpret test procedures and working with international testing standards
• Experience working in a test performance lab
• Experience purchasing a mechanical and electronic testing machines
• Proficient with MS Office Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint
• Ability to lift boxes up to 50 lbs and operate a pallet jack
Preferred Experience:
• Consumer products industry experience
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist test engineering with acquiring and setting up new test equipment
• Demonstrated strong problem-solving abilities to operate, troubleshoot, resolve issues with electronic and mechanical test equipment
• Setup and perform manual testing based on applicable procedures and/or standards
• Ability to work in a team environment or independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to communicate effectively between technicians, engineers, and outside equipment vendors
• Willing to learn new technologies, equipment, and procedures through on-the-job training
• Test sample handling, labeling, and disposition
• Ability to use common hand tools
• Experience writing test procedures and equipment standard operating instructions
• Understanding of equipment calibration
