For this position to be successful, the incumbent should have:
- High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to operate Microsoft Office Suite, Acrobat Professional, Windows.
- This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Preferred Qualifications
For this position to be successful, preference is given to candidates with:
- Experience in a forging facility
- Understanding of processes used in forging manufacturing
- Prior experience as a quality assurance inspector
- Previously demonstrated ability and desire to train others.
- An Associates or Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum one year of experience working with product function, testing, design, continuous improvement, and process control tools including SPC, MSA, Control Plans, Gage R & R's, and other statistical techniques.
- Thorough understanding of ISO/AS9100 quality systems standards.
- Experience within process CMM or related digital inspection tools and systems.
- The ability to perform dimensional measurement and interpretation of aerospace products to required customer specifications using conventional hand-held measuring instruments.
- The ability to read and understand engineering drawings, specifications, and geometric dimensioning and tolerances per ANSI/ASME Y 14.5.
- Working knowledge of CAD, Oracle, and Unix.
- Previous experience in a unionized environment.
Working Conditions
This position involves a moderate exposure to risk of accident and requires following basic safety precautions. Work is normally performed in a shared work environment, divided between the shop floor and an interior work space. While not exposed to hazardous materials, this position requires wearing full PPE to protect from mobile equipment, hot materials, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and loud noises.
This position also requires light physical activity, such as walking, sitting, and standing for extended periods of time, as well as occasionally engaging in all motions necessary to inspect equipment, which may entail some lifting.
This position also requires a willingness to travel both nationally and internationally, as required by the customer. Basic Qualifications

Under the direction of the quality engineer, quality manager or small aero quality lead, this position is responsible for applying technical expertise and manufacturing skills to all phases of Cleveland's forging producibility. This position does not supervise other personnel. The candidate communicates throughout their shift with production supervisors and operators with primary focus of this role being on the floor at final repair and final inspection. This position will be assigned to the off shift and this employee will be relied upon to uphold the standards of our quality system and assist production personnel with problem solving as issues arise.
Accountability Objectives
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Implementing and maintaining quality assurance systems, procedures, and equipment to meet customer and Company quality requirements.
- Determining conformity or non-conformity of the quality system with the specified documentation and implementation requirements.
- Applying Quality Assurance Support through operator training, verification and establishment of inspection methods and procedures, along with ensuring conformance to product requirements.
- Assisting production personnel proactively to resolve product or process issues.
- Conducting internal audits as scheduled including the preparation of audit reports, the initiation of associated corrective actions, and the maintenance of audit files.
- Striving to continually improve products and processes to enhance or exceed internal and external customer expectations, while determining the effectiveness of adopted quality systems.
- Monitoring and tracking process and product control parameters to validate process reliability and capability. Participating in real-time process management support.
- Monitoring and assisting outside suppliers to assure compliance to customer specifications and Howmet requirements.
- Conducting training to support product and process quality, productivity, continuous improvement, and safety performance.
- Managing Final Inspection product realization through dimensional, surface, marking identification, and specification requirement verification. Providing Quality Assurance Engineering support to final inspection facilities, as needed.
- Verifying CMM programs and blueprints.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
