Responsibilities:
• Adhere to rules, procedures, safe work practices, health and safety standards and use of personal protective equipment
• Report and investigate all near misses/incidents/accidents resulting in personal injury or property damage
• Comply with Food Safety & Quality policies and procedures
• Ensure forms and checklists properly, completely, accurately and legibly filled out
• Maintain safe and clean work environment; follow area checklist for sanitation requirements
• Ensure allergen, organic, and NGPV procedures are followed
• Prepare and sterilize media and buffer solutions; storage, handling, labelling and plating of samples following standard procedures
• Perform physical-chemical and organoleptic analyses of finished products and raw materials as per procedures
• Verify COA compliance for finished products and raw materials
• Verify finished product prior to shipping including documentation, pressure and seal checks, printing labels and visual inspections
• Complete environmental monitoring as per plan, submit samples to external lab where required
• Conduct routine checks on lab equipment, ensure equipment is kept in good working condition, and report non-conformances or faulty equipment
• Train production personnel on microbiological sampling
• Manage inventory of lab supplies, provide re-order quantities to QA Manager
• Retain sample management
• Participate in proficiency testing
• Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
• University degree or college diploma in Science, Food Science or Engineering
• Experience in a laboratory setting is required; experience in microbiology is an asset
• Minimum 1-2 years experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting
• Knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, CCPs and Food Safety (e.g. BRC) required
• Must be able to lift 50+ lbs.; be able to stand, bend, lift, twist, and turn for extended periods of time
• Must be motivated, able to multi-task and problem solve, be task and detail oriented, and work effectively in a team environment
• Must be safety and quality conscious
• Flexibility is required due to business needs; advanced notice will be given
• Must be able to work rotating shifts, weekends and holidays as required
Schedule:
• 8 hour shift
• Day shift
• Evening shift
• Monday to Friday
• Night shift Supplemental pay types:
• Overtime pay
• Shift Premium
