Essential Functions/Duties: The Quality Technician is responsible for ensuring adherence to internal processes and verifying that finished products meet customer-specific requirements. This role is dynamic and demands a high degree of self-motivation. The Quality Technician will report directly to the Quality Manager or Supervisor.
* Inspect Raw Materials: Ensure incoming materials meet quality standards before production begins.
* Conduct Tests: Perform process validations, in-process inspections, and quality monitoring of manufacturing processes and products.
* Conduct first piece set-up approvals.
* Conduct in-process floor audits.
* Monitor Production Processes: Oversee production processes to ensure adherence to quality standards.
* Document Findings: Record and report any issues or defects found during inspections. Ensure all documentation is completed correctly.
* Manage Nonconforming Products: Disposition nonconforming products daily in quality reg tag hold areas (MRB process). Collect, evaluate, and record nonconforming products each shift. Manage the customer RMA process daily.
* Collaborate with Teams: Identify and document non-conformance issues, collaborate with engineering and production teams to analyze root causes, and assist in corrective and preventive actions. Support all Customer Care initiatives.
* Maintain Equipment: Perform routine maintenance on testing equipment to ensure accuracy.
* Training: Support and lead the education of production staff on quality control procedures and standards. Train operators in gauge reading and usage methods as needed.
* Analyze Data: Collect and analyze quality data to identify trends and areas for improvement. Assist in the PPAP process as needed. Assist the quality manager/supervisor with First Article Inspection (FAI) reports for both customer and internal use.
* Ensure Compliance: Ensure all processes and products comply with customer-specific requirements.
* Implement Corrective Actions: Work with production and engineering teams to implement corrective actions for internal and external issues.
* Support Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and process efficiency.
* Perform Other Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned.
These duties ensure that products meet the required quality standards and help maintain the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the production process.
Required Knowledge, skills, abilities and other qualifications:
* Support Customer Test Reports: Assist in the creation of customer test reports (Certificate of Analysis). Perform exceptions and audit production records against test data.
* Customer Portals: Interact with and operate within customer-specific portals to upload data, production volumes, and other customer-specific requirements.
* Test Data Review: Review test data prior to shipment and repack material as necessary.
* Returned Material Analysis: Analyze returned materials, support Root Cause Analysis, 8D’s, and 5-Why methodologies, and help develop corrective actions.
* New Plant Procedures: Participate in new plant procedures, collect data from experiments, and assist other team members.
* Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety standards and regulations, including wearing proper protective equipment.
Desired Qualifications:
* Education: High School diploma or GED required; some college coursework (associate degree) preferred.
* Technical Skills: Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (advanced Excel skills and familiarity with Minitab preferred). A willingness to learn is essential.
* Experience: Experience working in an ISO or IATF certified environment is advantageous.
* Certification: Willingness to obtain the ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT) certification within the first year of employment is preferred but not mandatory.
