Quality Technician (Must have worked in Aerospace industry inspections)

Summary/Objective Performs and documents in-process, final and first article inspections to ensure aerospace products conform to all applicable requirements.
Essential Functions
• Perform inspection activities to assess conformance of products as defined by the engineering drawings and/or models.
• Assist Quality Engineers with preparing inspection plans and checklists that identify non-conforming product conditions.
• Create CMM or vision systems programs using drawings or models and perform inspections as required.
• Generate Discrepancy Reports and initiate non-conforming material disposition actions.
• Resolve issues and answer questions from Operators, Inspectors and Engineers.
• Work with Quality Engineers and perform validation and verification of programs (CMM, vision systems, etc.).
• Perform first article inspections per AS9102 and customer requirements.
• Work closely with the aerospace team to determine issues, efficiency gaps, and implement improvements.
• Perform other inspections and responsibilities as required.
Competencies
• Hands-on experience with high precision dimensional inspection is required.
• Ability to perform product source inspections and first article inspections per AS9102 and customer requirements.
• In-depth knowledge of AS9100 and AS9102 standard requirements.
• Ability to read and understand complex engineering drawings, specifications, geometric dimensions and tolerances per GD&T (ANSI/ASME Y 14.5).
• Proficiency with CMM inspection and programming.
• Knowledge of mechanical inspection and proficiency in the use of manual & visual inspection equipment: (calipers, gauges, micrometers, digital indicators, surface plates, optical comparators, microscopes, coordinate measuring machine, profilometers, hardness/durometer testers, etc.)
• Proven ability to multi-task and adapt quickly to ever-changing fast-paced environment.
• Good verbal and written communication skills, data entry skills and detail oriented.
• Ability to work in a team environment and to foster positive relationships with all functional groups.
• Computer skills (including Microsoft Office).
• Strong desire to learn and to apply new skills.
Supervisory Responsibility None
Work Environment This job operates in a manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses shop floor tools and machinery.

• Must has worked with Aerospace/equipment or products
• Manual dexterity sufficient to operate machinery for precision work
• Visual acuity (corrected) to read directions and prints and to inspect machined parts closely to ensure that they meet specifications
• Frequently required to sit, stand, move about the shop floor, talk, hear, bend and reach with hands and arms
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Ability to squat or kneel occasionally
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time hourly position and operates Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm.

Required Education and Experience
• High school diploma or GED
• 3 years’ experience in Aerospace industry inspections and knowledge of AS9100 and AS9102 requirements.
• Advanced knowledge on metrology inspections methods and tools.
• Strong working and training knowledge of GD&T (read and interpret).
• 3 years minimum experience in a manufacturing environment and mechanical Inspection of precision part
• 3 years’ experience with inspection equipment and tools.
• Experience with CMM measuring and programming.
