SUMMARY
The QA Technician is responsible for communicating the quality of the product and process deviations throughout the shift to the Manager on duty. Tasks include gathering data on the production lines and performing lab tests by specified methods to determine if the process and finished product fall within established specifications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Monitor and record the quality attributes of the product (moisture, texture, size, count/lb, weight)
· Monitor and record process parameters (line checks)
· Place out of specification product on hold and record amounts
· Communicate held product to the Manager on duty
· Communicate out of specification conditions to Manager on duty
· Perform hourly surface starch test on bagged finished product
· Communicate significant “out of the norm” conditions to the Corporate Manager of FSQR in a timely manner
· Write a detailed shift report at the end of the shift
· Communicate process and product conditions to the QA Technician that directly follows him/her
· Bring hourly retained samples to the lab, mark the boxes, and send them to the warehouse
· Monitor lab/QA supplies and reports shortages to the Corporate Manager of FSQR in a timely manner
· Check metal detectors during shift for proper calibration, record results & report deviations
· Report any contamination issues immediately
· Inspect bags and cases hourly for proper coding
· Inspect and approve incoming raw ingredients against COA’s and set specifications
· Inspect and match seal numbers of incoming raw ingredient railcars and trucks against BOL’s
· Perform GMP inspections and internal audits when requested by the Corporate Manager of FSQR
· Perform specific duties assigned to each shift’s QA Tech by the Corporate Manager of FSQR
· Inspect retained samples (during shutdowns) in the warehouse for sticking
· Keep lab clean and orderly
· Make copies of forms when supply is low
· Maintain a current copy of the product coding list and production schedule each day
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
· High School diploma is required at minimum
· Some college required. Science degree preferred.
Experience:
· Previous QA experience in the food industry is a plus
