Job Details
Position is key to product quality and development, investigate field complaints and ensure problems do not reoccur. They supervise the Quality and Technical Departments, and report to Technical Director.
Responsibilities
Actively support and promote safe work practices through the mill. Conduct monthly safety meetings and perform safety audits.
Provide guidance to paper inspection lab and determine disposition of paper (i.e. good, cull, job lot).
Investigate field complaints, rejected rolls, etc. and make recommendations to ensure problems do not reoccur.
Develop corrective actions for paper that does not meet customer requirements.
Assist with monthly quality review meetings.
Support technical service team with quality issues and dealing with customers.
Ensure department compliance with ISO standards
Maintain and update product specifications through quarterly spec reviews.
Assist with Food Safety Certification
Weekend coverage on a rotation basis
Works in office environment 80% of the time preparing reports and attending meetings. Remainder of the time reviewing the progress of projects in a mill environment.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field or equivalent in experience.
5+ years’ experience in paper manufacturing with a strong understanding of paper making.
Actively supports and promotes safe work practices.
Proficient computer skills in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) plus analytical software (such as Minitab)
Self-starter with good organizational and planning skills.
Good written presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively throughout the organization, customers, and suppliers.
Must possess strong attention to detail and have good problem-solving abilities.
