Position Specific Description
Employees in this role are responsible for utilizing continuous improvement tools (i.e., Data Analytics, Statistical Process Contol (SPC), Lean/Toyota Production System (TPS), Six Sigma methodologies) to coach and lead teams in key business improvement projects within the Power Generation business unit. Individuals lead or assist teams comprised of cross-departmental members to execute on business improvement efforts and projects assigned by management.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyze data: Use statistical software to collect, process, and interpret data to identify patterns, trends, and root causes
- Drive process improvement: Use data-driven techniques to improve processes and achieve measurable operational results
- Coach employees: Coach and guide employees working on process improvement projects to support business goals to improve generation reliability and cost management in our Power Generation division
- Communicate: Translate concepts into practice and communicate results to leadership
- Mentor: Coach and mentor other team members
- Develop and implement improvement plans for essential data collection, and thorough analysis utilizing statistical software and effective data manipulation and analysis design.
- Identify and/or develop metrics to be tracked
- Develop control plans to track solutions and countermeasures
- Provide regular project reviews to the Sponsor and/or Executive Leadership, including developing and presenting the PowerPoint Presentations.
- coach and mentor employees through the DMAIC Six Sigma process to complete certifications and improvement projects
- Establish strong team relationships, building trust and open communication regarding project issues and results - both with specific project team members as well as with the YB/GB/BB/MBB.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree (BS in engineering and/or mathematics, preferred)
- Licenses/Certifications: Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification from a recognized certifying body, certifications must include the completion of an improvement project
Desired Qualifications:
- Master's Degree
- Six Sigma Master Black Belt
- Project Management Professional (PMP)
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
- One (1) to three (3) years' experience with change management, project management, continuous performance improvement and/or data analysis
- Solid skills in data collection and data entry; aptitude for math and statistical concepts (formal class work in basic statistics preferred)
- Proficiency with Office computer tools (e.g. Power Point, Excel, Access, Word)
- Proficiency in statistical software preferred (e.g. Minitab, SPSS)
- Strong business and financial acumen
- Demonstrated problem solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills
