The Clinical Quality Nurse Specialist (QNS) is responsible for supporting quality improvement activities, by analyzing trends in reporting and through ongoing review of medical records to ensure compliance with nationally recognized quality patient outcomes and regulatory compliance (accreditation survey and CMS Conditions of Participation). The QNS collects, analyzes, and reports data on current databases, such as falls, and other quality outcomes. This position is also responsible for quality clinical review and screening for Professional Staff Peer Review indicators.
The QNS accurately enters and manages data to meet established standards and deadlines. The QNS works closely with the Quality department staff to analyze data and formulate recommendations on Quality Improvement projects based on findings. The QNS works with various clinical areas to coordinate and improve data collection. The QNS analyzes data, identifies trends, patterns, and profiles, and reports findings. This position also provides Quality support to the Employee Health RN and provides backup responsibility for Quality and the Emmployee Health department in the absence of the Director of Quality, and Employee Health RN.
Job Requirements
Knowledge of/Skill/Ability to:
Preferred working knowledge of Hospital & Clinic Quality Standards and regulatory, and accreditation ACHC Standards.
Skill to navigate clinical components of the current Electronic Health Record.
Strong written and verbal communication skill.
Strong customer service skills on phone and in person.
License/Certification:
RN currently licensed by the Oregon State Board of Nursing.
CPHQ (National Certification of Healthcare Quality) Certification or similar nationally recognized quality certification within 2 years of employment.
Education and/or Experience
Associate Degree in Nursing. BSN preferred. Risk Certificate preferred At least 2 years of clinical experience in nursing.
Physical Demands and Work Environment Conditions / ADA Compliance
Physical work is light to moderate demand. Works inside. Moderate amount of walking and standing. Normal hearing or corrected hearing required to converse on phone or with patient, staff, and family. Normal or corrected vision to complete pre-printed forms, documentation, and to visually assess patient needs. Manual dexterity required to complete pre-printed forms, operate phone system, and computer. Command of the English language sufficient to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
