Job Overview: The Quality Manager is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the highest standards of quality across all shifts at the facility. This role involves managing a team of quality auditors, standardizing processes, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to maintain product integrity and compliance with ASTM standards.
Responsibilities:Leadership:
- Direct and manage a team of quality auditors across all shifts.
- Perform performance management, including coaching, discipline, hiring, and termination decisions as needed.
Standard Work:
- Establish and standardize the flow of information, processes, and procedures.
- Troubleshoot and resolve quality-related issues.
- Develop and implement best practices across the network to ensure consistency and efficiency.
Training:
- Train, coach, and facilitate adherence to quality guidelines throughout the facility.
- Promote a culture of quality awareness and continuous improvement.
Operations Management:
- Oversee the testing lab for the Baldwyn facility to ensure products meet ASTM standards.
- Develop and implement internal corrective action plans for failed tests.
- Serve as a liaison to the Product Development team for samples and new product rollouts.
Accountability:
- Validate customer returns related to quality issues and approve credit issuance.
- Generate and publish weekly quality metrics and scrap reports for all foam pouring plants.
Other Duties:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory and safety standards.
- Manage audits, including internal, customer, and third-party inspections.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support operational goals and address quality-related challenges.
- Implement and maintain quality management systems (QMS), including ISO or equivalent certifications.
- Lead initiatives for continuous improvement, such as Lean, Six Sigma, or other methodologies.
- Manage the documentation and reporting of quality processes, procedures, and records.
- Develop and manage the quality department budget, including resource allocation and cost control.
- Bachelor of Science degree in appropriate discipline and minimum of 5 years’ experience in Quality Engineering in an ISO/IATF environment
- 3+ years of management experience, leading and motivating a team successfully
- Proven Lean Manufacturing required
- Demonstrated leadership amongst all levels of employees and across all functions
- Creative problem solver utilizing practical and logical thought processes
- Self-motivated/driven and able to create enthusiasm for improvement initiatives
- Demonstrated use of AIAG Core Quality tools and methodologies including experience in application and use of FMEA’s, Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, HARM (Risk Analysis), Fault Tree Analysis, Root Cause and Corrective/Preventative Action.
- Practical knowledge of applied statistical tools, including process capability and Statistical Process Control.
- Have the ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos and be able to prepare and effectively present information in one-on-one, small, and large group situations to customers, clients, and other associates within the organization.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Six Sigma Green Belt certification
- Working knowledge of JD Edwards/SAP
- Relevant certification(s) from recognized organizations such as ASQ (American Society for Quality)
