Position Summary:
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Quality Manager to lead and enhance quality control systems at their automotive production facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the fastener industry and will oversee a team of quality engineers, inspectors, and sorting personnel. The Quality Manager will ensure compliance with IATF 16949 standards and maintain alignment with customer and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Develop and maintain quality control systems to ensure continuous production aligned with customer specifications and production goals.
- Lead a team of quality engineers and inspectors, ensuring high standards in inspection and testing activities.
- Manage the sorting department, including staffing, tracking daily production, and addressing quality issues.
- Formulate, document, and enforce quality control standards and objectives.
- Apply quality management tools to streamline analytical and reporting processes.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) to identify and resolve process issues.
- Perform corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to eliminate process nonconformities.
- Develop, implement, and manage quality control training programs.
- Schedule production resources, taking manpower and machine availability into account.
- Track daily production targets and address quality issues identified by sorting machines.
- Perform annual reviews for sorting associates and monitor inventory control for critical equipment.
- Collaborate with vendors to ensure compliance with quality standards for purchased parts.
- Maintain adherence to OSHA safety guidelines and company policies.
Qualifications:
- Associate Degree or 10 years of progressive experience in the fastener industry.
- Proven knowledge and experience in the automotive industry.
- Expertise in production control, minimum process requirements (MPR), CAPA, and RCA.
- At least 4 years of leadership experience or equivalent leadership development training.
- Working knowledge of IATF 16949 standards; auditor certification is a plus.
- Intermediate-level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with PLEX UX, ERP systems, and quality control software.
- Problem-solving and decision-making training (preferred).
- Strong communication and organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to multitask.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Continuous standing and movement during 8–10 hour shifts.
- Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas.
- Occasional travel up to 10%, including overnight stays for audits or other requirements.
Preferred Skills and Certifications:
- Blueprint reading and quality inspection experience.
- OSHA training and familiarity with safety compliance.
- Problem-solving and decision-making certifications.
