Job Requirements:
We are seeking someone excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The candidate must also have a strong manufacturing background that allows them to act as a technical leader on the inspection process and on analyzing the various manufacturing processes. A certain level of technical expertise in manufacturing and inspection methods is also required in order to communicate with and gain the respect of the other employees in the company.
Experience Required:
- 10 years of experience in a precision manufacturing environment that utilizes an ISO-based quality system
- 8-10 years of leadership/management experience
- Experience with CAD a plus
Duties:
- Manage all aspects of the Inspection Department, with oversight in the following areas (much of this work can be performed by inspectors, but you should be able to do it too):
- Measuring parts against drawings with appropriate tools.
- Writing or modifying CMM programs, developing fixtures as needed.
- Perform incoming inspections on raw materials including castings.
- Perform “First Piece”, Daily AQL and Final Inspections on a variety of parts.
- Communicate with operators regarding discrepancies.
- Screen parts as required.
- Keep accurate manual and computer records as required.
- Perform Capability Studies as required.
- Continuously improve your employees’ skills through training/mentoring.
- Handle HR-related issues that may arise with your quality team.
- Determine eligibility for raises for your employees.
- Participate in the hiring process for new staff.
- Lead the MRB board to resolve part issues via the Discrepant Material Report system.
- Act as the management representative for Quality at quarterly management meetings.
- Interpret customer drawings and settle discrepancies between various viewpoints.
- Customer Contact
- Act as customer liaison for matters relating to Quality.
- Develop inspection plans and capability studies with customers as required,
- Provide various inspection data or study results to customers as required.
- Oversee and participate in the continuous improvement of procedures and records
- Define, develop, and manage ongoing quality documentation and method updates.
- Contract Review – check orders for gage needs, documentation requirements, etc.
- Quote intake – Help the front office to work with customers to establish requirements and costs for gaging, special inspections, capability studies, etc.
- Oversee Calibration System & Tool Oversight
- Manage external calibration vendors and oversee internal calibration systems.
- Ensure that all company tools and employee tools are calibrated.
- Ensure the company has the proper tools to perform at an optimal level.
