Wieland is hiring a Quality Manager. The Quality Manager will be responsible for managing, developing, maintaining, and improving quality assurance programs and systems in line with international standards and customer requirements. Assures products and quality objectives are met to support Morgan Bronze Business goals and to achieve superior quality and reliability levels. Plans, coordinates, and directs the quality program designed to ensure quality assurance of the production of product consistent with established standards by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates. This role is located in Lake Zurich, IL and will be fully on-site.
Responsibilities:Quality Manager Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a quality production program to ensure conformity of purchased material, final products, and services are to quality standards.
- Customer Liaison for quality and customer satisfaction related issues.
- Responsible for the management of quality personnel and activities defined in reports job descriptions
- Provide oversight of the Corrective Action process addressing product and non-conforming output
- Provide basic human resources services where applicable to include: effective training, interviewing, approving vacations, completing performance appraisals, conducting discipline sessions & performance reviews and personnel development.
- Reviews all data obtained during all quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure consistency with company policies and procedures.
- Interprets quality philosophy to key personnel in organization.
- Prepares and presents technical and program information to the management team.
- Designs and implements quality training programs to key personnel in conjunction with managers.
- Plays active role on quality management teams within organization.
- Maintains a working knowledge of government and industry quality codes and standards.
- Establish and further develop approved vendors for use during secondary processing of products such as plating, grinding, NDT, etc.
- Provide oversight and approval of mfg. process documentation such as Control Plans, PFMEA and Process Flow Maps which define verifications during production to ensure all requirements are met.
- Recommend the purchase of equipment and ensure calibration and suitability for use in line with self-Managed department budget.
- Visit vendor facilities, and meet with customers, quality representatives, and company personnel to discuss and to resolve quality problems as required.
- Prepare for and represent the company during customer reviews, audits, and assessments.
- Contract review assuring the verification that the customer needs and requirements can be met.
- Chair of the new product implementation process & cross-functional team review of new products.
- Communicate with process owners to resolve nonconforming conditions by developing or facilitating corrective and preventive actions.
- Promotion of change & continuous improvement through activities utilizing Six Sigma and Lean.
- Responsible for Aerospace Self Release Designate(s) and Completion of FAIR’s/PPAP’s.
- Support and contribute to lean manufacturing principles.
- Visit vendor facilities, and meet with customers, quality representatives, and company personnel to discuss and to resolve quality problems as required.
- Prepare for and represent the company during customer reviews, audits, and assessments.
- Contract review assuring the verification that the customer needs and requirements can be met.

- Manage Internal audit program in line with ISO9001, AS9100, ISO14001, LPA, Configuration
- Support and take accountability for the QEMS through the promotion of risk-based thinking, communication, promoting continual improvement in all areas and shall be customer focused.
- Formulates, maintains, and communicates the quality policy, quality objectives, and KPI’s in line with the context and strategic direction of Morgan Bronze.
- Maintain and act as the Management Representative for all registered international standards
- Identify risks and communicate to the management team and manage plans to address risks
- Support other management team members to provide leadership, strategy, direction and support as it applies to their areas of responsibility.
- Ensure that the quality management system achieves its intended results
- Engage, support, direct, supporting persons to contribute to the effectiveness of the quality management system.
- Utilizes and promotes the process approach through PDCA Methodology.
- Assure that resources needed for the quality management system are available.
- Maintains a focus on enhancing customer satisfaction through understanding and meeting of requirements and any risks or opportunities that can affect conformity or satisfaction are addresses.
Quality Manager Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Engineering discipline preferred
- Prior quality management experience required, preferably in a regulated industry
- Prior manufacturing experience in a machining job shop preferred
- Prior supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
- 10 years of experience in related field preferred
- Ability to create effective written and verbal instructions
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Strong computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
- Advanced blueprint reading & understanding of GD&T
- Strong knowledge of quality practices
- Proper measuring techniques with a variety of gages
- Knowledge of ferrous and/or non-ferrous materials
- Strong mechanical aptitude
