Our client, a major chemical manufacturer, is looking for a contract Quality Lab Tech to join the team at their site in Geismar, LA.
THIS IS A LONG-TERM CONTRACT POSITION WITH A PAY RATE OF $25 -27/HOUR (BENEFITS ARE AVAILABLE)
Position: Quality Lab Technician
Shift Schedule: Rotating 12-hour shifts: 5:00 AM - 5:00 PM / 5:00 PM - 5:00 AM, with every other weekend off.

Job Summary:
As an Quality Lab Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and integrity of our products through meticulous testing and analysis. Your responsibilities will include conducting quality assurance tests on in-process samples, raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods, adhering to company quality policies and standards. Through the use of various software tools, you'll evaluate data against internal and external specifications, contributing to the continuous improvement of laboratory and plant processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive analysis of raw materials, intermediate products, and finished goods to assess their suitability based on established specifications, ensuring the quality and availability of the final product.
- Collaborate with the Lab Supervisor and Production personnel to propose innovative ideas for process improvement, actively participating in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Utilize software tools such as Lotus Notes, LabWare, SAP, and Microsoft Office Programs to enhance quality reporting and data analysis.
- Ensure the proper operation, maintenance, calibration, and verification of laboratory equipment, maintaining high standards of quality control.
- Generate quality and statistical data to support plant personnel in enhancing process control, meeting customer requirements, and improving product quality characteristics.
Additional Duties:
- Perform product analysis promptly to ensure compliance with agreed-upon specifications.
- Collaborate effectively with operations personnel and communicate test results clearly.
- Adhere to documented procedures and safety protocols.
- Maintain cleanliness in the work environment and perform required health and safety inspections.
- Demonstrate flexibility in adapting to changing work demands and contribute to a team-oriented atmosphere.
Qualifications
The selected candidate must have the ability to work as part of a team, understand chemical and instrument measurement processes, be self-motivated, and willing to develop technical knowledge and understanding of the chemical and measurement processes involved in their respective units.
Requirements
- Minimum of a 2-year Associate's degree in Chemistry or a related field preferred, or at least 2 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing laboratory environment.
- Basic understanding of general chemistry principles and laboratory instrumentation operation, calibration, and maintenance.
- Familiarity with quality assurance and quality control techniques, as well as basic math and statistics.
- Knowledge of ISO/RCMS quality system requirements and proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Power BI, SAP, and Lotus Notes.
- Previous experience in quality control, preferably in a chemistry-related environment.
- Physical ability to lift, bend, and twist as necessary, with occasional use of respiratory protection.
