Position Purpose: Measure, examine, test and gauge characteristics of parts and materials, and compare results with specified requirements to determine in conformity and standards of workmanship have been achieved.
While not inclusive, this position will provide support in the following areas of the Quality Department:
Quality Inspection: Read and accurately interpret drawings. Perform quality inspections at all stages of the manufacturing process, including first article, in-production, and final inspection handheld measurement devices, such as calipers and alignment gauges, as well as electronic inspection equipment, such as coordinate-measure machines (CMM). Record measurement data accurately in the appropriate format. Accept or reject part/material, verify measurements, make minor repairs.
Testing and Analysis: Participate in quality engineering, testing, and analysis work when needed to resolve and/or prevent issues as needed. Recommend adjustments, make minor changes.

Machine Tools: Familiarity with machining tools such as grinders, cutters, presses, lathes, calipers, dial indicators, etc.
Teamwork: Fosters collaborative and cooperative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Task and Time Management: Can multi-task, prioritize, and use time effectively and efficiently.
Independent Work Habits: Proactive self-starter takes initiative when appropriate and is capable of working independently to complete tasks; informs supervisor when support and/or direction is needed.
Continuous Improvement: Promote a LEAN/LEAN SIX SIGMA culture dedicated to improvement productivity and efficiency, reduce defects, and reducing waste. Continuously work on improvement and development of Best-Known Methods (BKM).
The experience you have:
Education, Experience, Certifications, Licenses: High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree or other post high school vocational training in a related field plus minimum of 2 years of experience performing Inspection in a build-to-print environment. 5 years of experience and demonstrated competency to perform duties in a build-to-print environment may substitute for post high school training. CMM, PC-DMIS, MicroVu experience preferred. Quality Inspector Certification (ASQ CQI) preferred.
Technical Skills: Ability to read manufacturing drawings, BOMs and specifications. Knowledge of and experience with manufacturing process and quality control of various machining, such as CNC, VMC, etc. Knowledge of material properties and characteristics (metals). Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) for defining and engineering tolerances. Knowledge of and hands-on experience with measurement tools and techniques (CMM). Experience with computer workstation and standard office applications, including MS Office. Tool calibration experience helpful.
Mathematics: Basic math, ability to calculate and convert units of measure; ability to manipulate numbers, quantities, shapes and spaces required; intermediate understanding of geometry and trigonometry preferred.
Physical Demands and Environment: Majority of work is performed in an office environment, but includes visits to manufacturing areas; standing, stairs, and occasional lifting, carrying, reaching, bending, stooping may be necessary. Exposure to loud noises may be experienced during an average workday. Use of PPE required in manufacturing areas.
Hours for the position:
Monday-Thursday 4:00pm-2:30 am
