The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing quality control systems to ensure adherence to food safety, specifications, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement of products.

Pay: $90-$110K based on experience
Typical day in the life as a Quality and Food Safety Manager:
- Assist Research and Development with documentation of raw material, WIP, and finished product specifications
- Audits first runs with R & D to ensure manufacturing understanding and compliance with safe food products, specifications, and work instructions
- Develops and maintains up to date quality procedures and programs. Documents the same in the form of a company QA manual, Food Safety Plan(s), and/or HACCP Plans
- Liaison for regulatory agencies and firms such as FDA, ODA, USDA/Organic, and Kosher for third party auditors
- Serves as the SQF Practitioner
- Provides training and audit for QA programs including GMP, food safety, and sanitation
- Works in conjunction with R & D to administer the manufacturing testing and retention program
- Coordinates with laboratories when testing or research is external
- Audits lot integrity by spot checking work orders; shipping and receiving documents; and mock trace exercises
- Audits shipping and receiving documents
- Maintains revision control for QA documents (e.g.: specifications; processes, policy relating to QA, Manufacturing, Shipping/Receiving, and Inventory Control)
- Coordinates and manages the company’s HACCP Plan and all other Food Safety and Quality Programs
- Responsible for all Quality and Food Safety programs; Kosher, Organic, Pest control, Sanitation verification, Environmental monitoring, Allergen control, Foreign material control
- Responsible for Customer documentation requests including responses to customer complaints
- Other duties as assigned
What we are we looking for?
- Manage QA technicians and train employees on Food Safety Management systems
- Effectively communicates with all department management/subordinate levels, as well as executive/department manager levels to inform personnel of communications, decisions, and policies
- Bachelor’s degree in food science, microbiology, biology, chemistry or equivalent required; 5-7 years of Quality Assurance experience preferred. Quality Assurance in food manufacturing, SQF practitioner certification, PCQI Certification and HACCP certification required. Knowledge/experience with FDA regulations required; Better Process Controls Certification preferred. Must have experience with cleaning Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, with the flexibility to learn new technology, SAP and ERP systems and document control systems.
