Position Summary:
Evaluates, selects and applies quality engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, to a broad set of quality functions in the specific knowledge area of expertise.
Description of Duties:
- Perform mechanical inspections using standard measuring equipment and have some CMM experience.
- Perform first article inspection in accordance with AS9102.
- Perform receiving, in-process and final inspections to assure product conforms to released engineering and customer requirements.
- Reviews and approves planning documentation, ensures that all required inspection points are properly identified.
- Review and approve purchase orders to assure that all necessary quality clauses are identified.
- Perform Root Cause Analyses.
- Recommend and support the implementation of corrective and preventive actions that are necessary to reduce or eliminate non-conformances.
- Provide technical expertise to employees and customers to ensure compliance with, contractual, company and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in design and product reviews to ensure that producability, inspectability objectives are met.
- Provide education and coaching on the Quality System.
- Analyze contractual, product definition, and specification requirements for the development or modification of methods, procedures, and the development of metrics needed to ensure that quality standards and practices are attained.
- Provide material review dispositions for nonconforming materials.
- Perform internal audits of processes and systems to ensure the quality of company products and services. Provide quality system review to validate the integrity of quality decisions that affect product and services..
- Support external customer audits and third party ISO audits.
- Analyze and compile performance reports and process control statistics in order to determine and improve process capability or product quality.
- Interface with company employees, suppliers, customers, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with requirements.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of ISO-9001/AS-9100 Standards.
- Capable of reading drawings and understands Geometric Tolerance.
- Knowledge of root cause analysis, corrective action, and preventive action processes.
- Knowledge of key characteristic development. Apply knowledge of statistical analysis, product configuration, engineering requirements, assembly flow, tooling functions, and process capabilities to identify/determine the key features necessary to control product and process performance.
- Knowledge of Material Review Board processes and associated documentation.
- Ability to effectively communicate. Listens effectively; demonstrates understanding; clarifies meaning for others; speaks with clarity and precision; able to communicate with a diverse audience; writes clearly and concisely.
- Skill in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
- Skill in applying quality principles and procedures
- Ability to establish and maintain effective, positive work relationships; have creativity, flexibility and resourcefulness; have discriminating judgment, tact and sense of humor
- Ability to write reports, processes and desk instructions.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of five years' experience as a quality engineer in the aerospace industry or;
- Bachelor's degree in Quality or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent field and 5-8 years experience as a quality engineer in the aerospace industry or;
- Masters degree in Quality or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent field and 3-4 years experience as a quality engineer in the aerospace industry
