Quality Engineer – Thomaston – RTE 8

The Quality Engineer directly supports Company Mission and Vision through a relentless focus on achieving customer satisfaction and improvement of their Quality Management System.
The Quality Engineer duties and responsibilities include the following, other duties may be assigned:
• Conduct Internal Audits as needed to ensure compliance to the AS9100/ISO 9001, ISO13485, and NADCAP standards.
• Monitors applicable areas of responsibility to maintain and improve required quality requirements, while controlling/reducing cost and not negatively impacting safety.
• Provides relevant reporting and recommendations to the Quality Manager
• Acts as a thought advisor for the Quality System and Quality Assurance methodologies, including staying current on new research and approaches.
• Assists in facilitating RCCA workshops, and training of quality related topics/techniques (e.g., Error proofing)
• Supports internal and external customers related to quality issues and problem solving
• Provides support for Supplier Quality
• Interfaces with or directs communication between appropriate personnel and customers to ensure customer expectations related to quality and auditing, are being appropriately addressed.
• Performs PPAP/FAI related tasks and reporting
• Creates and executes strategies to support annual objectives.
• Supports the coaching of Managers, Supervisors and Production personnel in QMS
• Provides hands on support relative to quality issues, error proofing opportunities, customer complaint resolution
• Track key quality related trends and initiate RCCA as warranted
• Conduct PPAP, FMEA, FAIR, Control plans as needed
Responsible for conducting/supporting the following systems/processes:
o QMS, Customer Complaint, NCMR, PPAP/PFMEA/FAI and Corrective/Preventative Action
Knowledge and Skills Required
• Experienced with AS9100, ISO 13485, and NADCAP AC7120 and AC7121 standards.
• Experience in electronics manufacturing industry desired
• Experienced in the use of basic inspection equipment.
• High level ability to create and maintain quality metric charts.
• Strong Math skills to support Quality initiatives.
• Strong leadership, and organizational skills
• Knowledge and hands on experience in Quality principles, practices, tools and techniques
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work independently
Education and/or Experience
Minimum 3 years of experience as a Quality Engineer or 5 years as a Quality Technician.
• Lean and/or Six Sigma certification preferred.
• ASQ certification preferred
• IPC 610/620 certified or become certified with an agreed upon time frame.
