About the Job
The Quality Engineer is an integral part of the quality team. This position is responsible for completing and submitting PPAP, FAI, CA and/or RMA documentation to customers, as well as conducting root cause analysis and help implementing corrections when needed. A successful candidate will be able to work independently as well as part of a team, be able to multitask, be a self-starter, and be hands on tasks including 1st pc inspection and dimensional investigations when needed. This is a full-time position, and not eligible for remote working.
Responsibilities to include:
- Control and maintain active revision levels of part drawings, knowledge to be able to review and approve internal drawings.
- Prepare, coordinate, and compile all PPAP & FAI packages for submission to customers for approval.
- Perform / analyze process capability studies.
- Perform root cause analysis on quality issues.
- Initiate, complete, and communicate Corrective Action reports (8D) and monitor external defect rates.
- Record, react to, and disposition non-conforming material from internal/external processes or customer returns (MRB, customer and supplier issues).
- Perform internal audits (as required).
- Generate and fully process RMAs, including creation of rework work orders.
- Perform 1st pc inspection and dimensional investigations (as required).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Quality, or Industrial Engineering, or minimum 5 years of experience working in quality engineering.
- Minimum 3 years of experience working in quality in a manufacturing setting.
- Proficiency interpreting engineering prints, specifications, and complete understanding of GD&T (ASME Y 14.5).
- Experience using standard quality tools; flow charts, pareto charts, control charts, histogram, fishbone, 5 why’s.
- Knowledge of production machining strongly preferred (including turning, milling, mill-turn, Swiss-turn, multi-spindle turning, broaching, honing, grinding, rotary transfer machining, EDM).
