About the Job
The primary responsibilities of this position are the immediate supervision and management of the Quality Control Inspectors/Testers and scheduling with the production department needs.
Scope of Work:
Coordinate and schedule QC activities and personnel.
Interface with Production Departments to determine and schedule the most efficient allocation of the QC Inspectors.
Interface with the Authorized Inspector and customer inspection personnel.
Coordinate all ASME Section VIII activities.
Generate, develop or revise welding and heat treatment procedures.
Respond to customer welding procedure review comments.
Maintain welding personnel qualifications; qualify new welders and upgrade existing welder qualifications.
Contracting with labs in the performance of metallurgical testing in accordance with material or customer specification requirements.
Other duties and tasks as assigned
Responsibilities:
Assist the Director of QA in the performance of his duties and serve as the designee for the Director of QA in his absence.
Maintenance of acceptable levels of quality as established by the Director of QA.
Response to project welding procedure needs in a timely manner.
Skills:
Ability to inspect expansion joints and related products, with supervision.
Ability to evaluate quality issues and determine solutions to assure on time shipments.
Communication with Production, Engineering, and Customer Service to inform of any issues that might affect shipment or schedule.
A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum five (5) years experience in quality assurance in a manufacturing environment.
Prior experience in a related industry which held ASME nuclear and non-nuclear accreditations, ISO certifications, etc. a plus.
Previous NDE experience and a familiarity with ASME Section IX welding preferred.
