The Position:
This is a great opportunity for an energetic, dedicated Quality Engineer to join our Quality Engineering Team. The right person will lead internal quality assurance activities for assigned customers to achieve customer PPM expectations, Acme's internal quality goals and provide QA support for NPI projects. Ensure compliance with customer requirements and Acme's ISO9001 / AS9100 Quality Management Systems. Contribute to continuous improvement activities by utilizing QA capabilities and product inspection data. QA scope includes internal processes, production routing supplier services and raw material supplier's products.
Job Duties:
-Ensure customer APQP and PPAP requirements are adhered to. Lead ACME personnel on effective use of APQP tools (Process Map, PFMEA, Gage R&R, Process Capability Study) as required. Coordinate with Acme's Purchasing Manager and Value Stream staff to ensure PPAP requirements are flowed down to suppliers.
-Develop quality control plans for new products and revision changes: Determine gauge requirements, inspection/testing equipment and instructions. Create Control Plans and document or imbed in Acme's process routing specific inspection instructions using Acme best practices.
-Balloon customer drawings and prepare First Article forms and In-process Inspection forms that production and inspection personnel use to record results.
-Track process capability and collaborate with manufacturing engineering to improve results. Prepare PPAP submissions to customers, including roll-up of supplier PPAP information, and obtain customer approval. Prepare customer required quality documentation for shipment with product.
-Support production with disposition of non-conforming raw material and product and support Quality Manager for disposition of supplier deviation requests. Submit deviation requests to customers.
-Be the primary quality department contact for assigned customers and respond to customer complaints. Process customer RMA requests and lead customer CAR response. Utilize quality alerts and other quality tools as needed to prevent repetitive production process non-conformances.
-Develop, execute, and analyze quality metrics, and report to management on problems, trends, and improvement action plans.
-Conduct internal ISO audits, process audits and support continuous improvement of all processes.
-Other duties as assigned.
The Right Person/What we need from you:
-Bachelor's degree in engineering/science or equivalent experience - minimum five years' experience as a Quality Engineer.
-Experience with metal machining processes and related gages and inspection.
-Broad knowledge and experience with GD&T.
-Ability to focus on details and eliminate misinterpretations, errors, or omissions.
-Strong time & project management to satisfy multiple competing priorities.
-Ability to lead APQP activities related to a new product launch.
-Ability to lead problem-solving with structured methods like 8D, etc…
-Strong written and verbal communication skills for interfaces with both colleagues and customers.
-Ability to work independently and in teams with minimal supervision.
-Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and creativity.
-Broad knowledge and experience with statistical process control.
-Willing and able to travel to customer and supplier locations.
-Working Knowledge of ISO9001 and AS9100.
