Job Title:- Quality Engineer 3 (Module Breakpoint Coordinator)
Duration:- 11 to 12- months position (May go Longer)
Location:- Lansing, Michigan
Daily Schedule/Shift:-
Monday- Thursday. 4 days and 10 hours daily.
1st 6am-4:30pm. (there may be meetings that the candidate will have to attend after the shift. Candidate will be compensated for it).
Training: Depends on experience. Roughly will be 4 to 6 weeks learning client systems. The expectation is for them to be proficient after training (Not expecting an expert).
Job Description:
The main function of a quality engineer is to research and test the design, functionality and maintenance of products, equipment, systems and processes and develop quality standards. A typical quality engineer has the ability to read and interpret blueprints, and evaluate product integrity and standards.
Job Responsibilities:
• Devises sampling procedures and designs and develops forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data.
• Establishes program to evaluate precision and accuracy of production equipment and testing, measurement, and analytical equipment and facilities.
• May write training material and conduct training sessions on quality control activities.
• May specialize in areas of quality control engineering, such as design, incoming material, process control, product evaluation, product reliability, inventory control, metrology, automated testing, software, research and development, and administrative application.
• Directs workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability.
Skills:

• Basic leadership and mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawing, schematics and computer-generated reports.
• Previous experience with computer applications and software related to engineering field, such as Computer Aided Design (CAD).
• Key responsibilities: Address module issues end of line. Handle supplier quality issues. Issue SPPS. Issue PRTS. Maintain module supplier quality sheet. Work with DVT coordinator on software issues. Address all end of line module and software failures. Enter defect losses into GSIP.
How do you define success for a Quality Engineer in this position? Someone that work with minimal direction, independent. Someone who can solve issues, but not afraid to ask questions when help is needed.
Can you describe the culture of the quality engineering team? Everybody in the group is a high performing technical person. As a team, we bounce ideas off each other or questions. We’re a close-knit team. We get every electrical problem in the plant. We must figure out if we own the issue or for another group owns and assign it accordingly. We coach and teach others on the floor since the other team are just putting the cars together. Explaining the why aspect.
How large is the current quality team, and how do you see the team growing or evolving? 5 total people on the team. Seeing the team expand in the future as we get more product (will be getting another vehicle program). Can have to 5 to 8 more people on the team within the next year or so.
What is the team's approach to knowledge-sharing and professional development? We have training books for the different electrical components. We have a training room that we do electrical training. Whatever the persons want to do, we have the training for it. Depends on what they want for growth & development.
• High School Diploma or bachelor’s degree required? High school diploma is required. But technical degree in electrical engineering is a plus.
• What are the years of experience required? Must have 3 to 5 years of experience. Looking for automotive experience or supplier. What roles they were in? And if they have electrical background. Also, will look for buzz words from working another automotive client.
• Electrical Background: (Electrical schematics and how software works with the schematics)
• Computer Skills: Proficient working with excel and using formulas. Looking up specs and math data.
• Vehicle software and how it works. Vspy is a bonus. It’s like vehicle spy where you can pull part numbers and pull logs from the vehicles.
