OVERVIEW
The Quality Engineer II position at the JFB site is responsible for providing food safety and quality leadership for the Pet & Snacks platforms within the Pilot Plant, along with the potential opportunity to support other platforms in the future as needed.
What differentiates this position from others is the unique ability to support a manufacturing / manufactured environment, with a direct interface to ITQ business partners, businesses, and collaborate on the as-designed elements of a Food Safety and Quality management system. This position is accountable for supporting all innovation and experimentation initiatives from a food safety & quality perspective on targeted platforms and businesses. You will work with our business partners and R&D teams to champion quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. The work you do in this role will provide you with a high level of cross-functional exposure and will enhance your ability to partner with several different business functions and champion remarkable products and solutions.
The ITQ environment offers a candidate the ability to engage across a wide range of functions, including the Business teams, R&D, and Operations as you help to deliver against key ITQ goals and initiatives. You will develop skills aligned with core General Mills Values of Lead with Safety and Engaging Leader in a dynamic and autonomous role.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Ensure food safety and quality compliance across the Pilot Plants you support along with key food safety program management across the site.
- Lead quality, food & human safety, and regulatory strategies/improvements while working collaboratively with partners
- Champion innovative problem-solving techniques to deliver on the experimentation and development needs of ITQ partners
- Work closely with the business teams and able to pivot for competing business priorities.
- Ability to navigate the gray, and create clarity of mission and program improvement in a fluid R&D environment
- Foster positive employee relations with the team and co-workers; create and promote a team environment, manage conflict, and resolve issues in an open, direct, and respectful manner.
- Facilitate effective sharing of information across work teams, shifts, and functional groups, foster strong collaboration
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Chemical, Food Science, or a related field
- 2+ years of related Food Safety and Quality experiences
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to experiment, assess risks, and make data-based recommendations and decisions.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse cross-functional teams, R&D partners, as well as with external resources including suppliers and/or external supply chain partners when needed
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Plant Quality Engineer or manufacturing experience (or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of product quality and food safety
- Demonstrated ability to navigate complex organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and develop remarkable solutions
