As an experienced Quality Engineer in Advanced Hardware Manufacturing Operations (AHMO), you will develop systems, methodologies, quality processes, and best practices to guarantee high-quality products in line with standards, drawings, and specifications set in place by internal Engineering Teams. You will support projects developed by cross-functional teams where quality results, teamwork, and initiatives measure individual performance. A successful candidate must be driven and have the ability to meet tight deadlines, have strong interpersonal and communication skills, be detail oriented, and be able to work independently. This position will report directly to the Sr. Quality Engineering Manager.

- Strong technical and analytical acumen with 6-8 years of direct and deep experience in a manufacturing environment (automotive, semiconductor, Class II/III medical device, complex software controlled electro-mechanical capital equipment, or aerospace fields are preferred)
- Thorough knowledge of QMS and quality control fundamentals
- Background in MRB and NCMR handling along with driving SCARs & CAPAs to resolution

As an experienced Quality Engineer in Advanced Hardware Manufacturing Operations (AHMO), you will develop systems, methodologies, quality processes, and best practices to guarantee high-quality products in line with standards, drawings, and specifications set in place by internal Engineering Teams. This position will report directly to the Sr. Quality Engineering Manager.
In this role, you will:
- Participate in Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and guide teams to create quality documents including detailed Quality Plan, Process Flow Diagrams, Process Failure Mode Analysis (PFMEA), Process/Equipment Validation, Inspection Reports, Dimensional reports, Functional Test Reports (FTR's), Process Certs, Material Certs, Rework instructions, Temporary Deviation Orders (TDO's), Packaging Reports, Part Submission Warrants (PSW's) in various quality databases including Jira, RGBSI, 3DX, and other Internal Quality Logs.
- Play a fundamental role in supporting the setting up of procedures, instructions, and processes that will allow Zoox to align with the international standards for Quality Systems (IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and similar).
- Be the main point of contact between Program Management, Design Teams, Test Engineering, Supplier Quality, Manufacturing and Risk Management for hardware development (i.e. Lidars, cameras, and compute suites)
- End to end quality understanding and exposure from NPI to serial production, to Sustaining and EOL.
- Develop Incoming Quality Control (IQC), In Process Quality Control (IPQC), and outgoing Quality Control (OQC) requirements and setting metrics for analyzing performance
- Hold MRB (Material Review Board) meetings with key stakeholders to determine the disposition of on-hand units in quarantine
- BS in mechanical, electrical, or electronics engineering required (MS preferred)

- Thorough knowledge of QMS and quality control fundamentals

- Experience in standard quality tools required (xFMEA, Control Plan, Validation Plan, 8D, SPC, etc.)
- Strong planning, organizational, analytical, negotiation, interpersonal, decision-making, oral, and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of statistics
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience in Lidar / Radar / Sensor / Camera
- Python coding or similar language
- Experience working in a start-up environment and setting a QMS from scratch
