Scope
The Quality Control Supervisor is responsible to ensure all processes are performed in accordance with established Quality Management Systems procedures and practices. The Quality Control Supervisor is responsible for the QC Leads, QC Auditors, QC Inspectors, NDE Inspectors, and Quality Wall FVI personnel.
Summary of Duties
Supervision of People
- Ongoing technical support for all QC inspection operations of premium connections to resolve problems.
- Handle personnel issues relating to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance issues, etc.
- Set clear performance expectations for his/her team and lead the team to deliver through coaching and positive
- management.
- Assess skill gaps and implement development plans to ensure all QC personnel are trained and qualified for applicable process requirements, gaging techniques, and procedures.
- Perform skill training and qualifications as needed
- Ensure conformance to all company policies, practices, and regulations to include Quality and Safety.
Process Improvement & Troubleshooting
- Actively promote and implement a 2 Second Lean culture focusing on improvement through the elimination of the 8 wastes
- Act as change agent and work closely with peers from Operations, R&D and all other functions to drive a preventive quality culture.
- Promote effective communication vertically and horizontally within the organization.
- Make recommendations to simplify and improve QA documents and procedures as needed
- Analyze appropriate data to isolate and reduce sources of variation and to prevent defects and resolve production and quality issues.
- Participate/Lead quality improvement and defect reduction projects. Utilize Lean and other Continuous Improvement tools to reduce variation in QC processes, mitigate rework, reduce cost and improve quality.
- Utilize structured problem-solving methodologies to address non-conformance issues and drive timely closure of corrective actions.
Job Readiness
- Review work order packets for accuracy and acceptability and develop quality readiness actions / processes.
- Support Internal and External QMS and process Audits as needed. General
- Any other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School education or general education degree (GED).
- 5+ or more years with specific OCTG connection skills:
- Gage Procedures Application
- Gage Setup
- Dimensional & Visual Inspection
- Non-destructive Testing & Evaluation (NDT/NDE) methods
- Knowledge and application of Lean methods and culture
- 2 or more years of computer experience and have a working knowledge of typical hardware and software.
- Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience.
- Strong verbal, written, analytical, organization and administrative capabilities
- Ability to read, write and speak well in English.
- Must be able to pass applicable testing as required.
