THE OPPORTUNITY
The Quality Control (QC) Manager creates, maintains, and executes quality documents, procedures, and reports for all manufacturing material inspections, testing activities, supplier quality, and certifications. Leading a team of QC Technicians, this position ensures that all required quality specifications for manufactured or purchased electromechanical and optics products are met and documented. This position also manages and participates in reliability assessment using PPAP discipline. In addition, the QC Manager also assists the Director of Quality Assurance with the maintenance of multiple Quality Management Systems (QMS) as assigned. This role will need to work in Marlborough, MA and Portsmouth, NH (2+ days per week)
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
People:
- Represent Quality Assurance in all daily Galvion cross-functional, customer, and supplier meetings and activities.
- Hire and train staff to meet production quality, reliability, and certification.
- Build a positive team environment, actively listening to staff and co-workers, and establishing a daily presence on the manufacturing floor managing both people and processes.
- Ensure team members are on time to work, properly trained, and are professional at all times.
- Address team member issues in a timely, professional, and confidential manner.
- Execute the QA Director's plan and site Leader's schedule for specific actions related to daily QC operations, customer QC requirements, and supplier QC issues.
Process:
- Lead all document control activities including updating, issuing, and reviewing all quality documents with respect to QMS, Reliability, Supplier, and Certification.
- Manage QC work under AS9001, AS9100, and other required certifications. Assist in managing Galvion internal audit activities.
- Maintain calibration records program.
- Maintain and manage quality data gathering and data accuracy in ERP systems.
- Maintain, manage, and execute all NC and CAPA procedures.
- Review all customer Quality & reliability documents as required.
- Responsible for directing all day-to-day quality activities at assigned sites.
- Responsible for managing the MRB process including scheduling activities/reviews, contacting resources as required, and improving MRB KPIs.
Performance:
- Ensure that all quality team duties are performed in a timely manner consistent with applicable quality requirements, safety guidelines, and applicable procedures.
- Obtain and maintain Lead Internal Auditor status.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the ISO9001 and AS9100 Quality and other standards as required.
- Responsible for site quality KPIs including MRB, inspection, and manufacturing yield.
- Responsible for supplier quality scorecards as assigned.
- Daily work schedule distributed between hands-on quality work such as inspection & data gathering and administrative duties.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED
- 5+ years quality management experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor degree in a technical or business discipline or equivalent combination of applicable work experience and education is required.
- Experience in electromechanical and optics manufacturing preferred.
- Understanding of AS/ISO process, certification, and compliance required.
- Experience with problem solving, or improvement tools (8D, DMAIC, PDCA) a plus.
- Ability to use standard measuring devices for quality inspections.
- Computer literate, proficiency with Microsoft Office (specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, specifically).
- Experience with SPC, CPK, PPAP, MSA, and other statistical analysis tools preferred
- Position requires a person who is meticulous and quality conscious, motivated and creative problem solver.
- Must be able to prioritize activities and actions.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Fast learner with excellent time management skills.
